George E. “Bill” Burton

George E. “Bill” Burton, 69, of Bellefontaine, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at his residence.
He was born in Logan County on July 3, 1940, the son of the late Paul William and Georgia A. (Wortman) Burton.
He met and married the love of his life, the former Jean Ward, on September 21, 1962 in Bellefontaine, OH.
Bill loved and will be missed by his wife Jean, sons, John (Joni) Burton of Rushsylvania and Joe (Tracey) Burton of Bellefontaine; six grandchildren, Andrea, Bethany, Nicole, Kylee, Nicolas, and Sydney Burton; a great grandson, Holden John; brothers, Paul “Rick” Burton of Huntsville, Steve “Mike” Burton of Bellefontaine, Ben (Kay) Burton of West Liberty; and sisters, Gail Harman of Bellefontaine and Bonnie (Mike) Fogle of Holland, OH; several Aunts, Uncles, nieces and nephews. A sister, Pat Bobon, preceded him in death.
Bill retired as a Tool and Die maker and spent most of his career at D.A.B Industries.
He was a member of the Muchinippi Church in Lewistown and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye Football and Cincinnati Reds fan. He enjoyed working in his tool shop and spending time with his family.
Family and friends may call on Monday, January 4th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 5th at 11:00 am. Burial will be in the Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff.

Jane Snyder

Jane Snyder, 86, of Huntsville, passed away at 5:58 p.m. on Monday, December 28, 2009 at Green Hills Care Center, West Liberty.
She was born on April 12, 1923 in Champaign County to the late Thomas and Adeline McIntosh Ahern. On October 20, 1945, she married Harry David Snyder and he preceded her in death.
A homemaker, Jane was a graduate of Urbana High School and a member of the First Christian Church in Bellefontaine.
Survivors include a son, William R. (Jyl) Snyder of Springfield; two daughters, Joyce Ann Kesler and Barbara J. McDonald, both of Huntsville; a sister Georgia Spiker of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Harry David Snyder, Jr. and a sister, Kathleen Watson.
Gene Marine will conduct a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at the Kauffman-Eichholtz Funeral Home, West Liberty.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 30th from 4-6:30 p.m. at Kauffman-Eichholtz Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty.

Daniel L. “Doc” “Animal” Miller, 59, of Russells Point, OH, passed away Monday morning, December 28, 2009 at Troy Care and Rehabilitation Center, Troy, OH.
Daniel was born on March 27, 1950 in Springfield, Ohio to Russell L. and Catharine R. Warren Miller of Indian Lake Shores, Belle Center, OH. He is also survived by two children: Chantel (Randy) Ganger of Piqua, OH, and Dustin (Jessica) Miller of Troy, OH, four grandchildren, three brothers: Bill (Bonnie) Miller of Huber Heights, OH, Chris (Cheryl) Miller of Chesapeake, VA, and Rodney (Kathy) Miller of Port Clinton, OH. Several nieces and nephews, companion and former wife: Pam Miller of Lakeview, OH and numerous friends.
Daniel was a 1969 graduate of Northwestern High School in Springfield. He retired from Navistar in Springfield after 33 years of service. He was a member and former officer of the Piqua Moose #1067, Indian Lake Moose #1533 and Indian Lake Eagles #3615, both of Lakeview, OH. He also owned and operated Doc’s Party on Wheels DJ and Catering Service.

Benjamin Harrison "Ben" Godsey, 77 of Huntsville, died at 8:40 AM Saturday, December 26, 2009, at his home.
He was born May 27, 1932, in Lafayette, TN, a son of the late Emmett and Elizabeth Ann Cox Godsey. He was also preceded in death by a son; Donald G. Godsey, four brothers; Raymond, Emmitt, James and Martin Godsey and two sisters; Bessie Taylor and Martha Lowe.
On December 26, 1952, he married Eva Ruth Douglas in Jellico, TN and she survives. Other survivors include a daughter; Karen Beck of Lewistown, a son; Dan E. (Joan) Godsey of McClure, two brothers; J. Will (Helen) Godsey of Sevierville, TN and John L. (Martha) Godsey of Seymour, TN, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was an Assembler at the Copeland Corporation in Sidney; he attended Hope Harbour Baptist Church, enjoyed his children and grandchildren, Blue Grass Music and Festivals and was an avid NASCAR Fan.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at the Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff, with Pastor Fred Albert officiating. Burial is in the Fairview Cemetery, Quincy. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday. Dec. 29, 2009 from 5 to 8 P.M.

Frederick H. “Pete” Cianciolo, 77, of Lakeview, died Sunday evening, December 20, 2009, at his home.
He was born on July 18, 1932 in Sidney, Ohio to the late Frederick & Elizabeth Diomede Cianciolo. On December 29, 1952, he married the former Rita J. Eshman in Sidney, OH.
He is survived by his wife: Rita, six children: Lori (Craig) Harbert, Erlanger, KY, Frederick R. (Emily) Cianciolo, Ione, CA, Theresa (Mark) Gross, Cincinnati, OH, John (Samantha) Cianciolo, Lakeview, Rita Marie (Ken) Hilty, Spencerville, OH, and David (Joan) Cianciolo, Lakeview, 8 grandchildren, and one step-grandson.
Pete was a 1950 graduate of Sidney High School and a U. S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated Sidney Fruit Company. He was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Church, Russell Point, OH. He is also a life member of VFW Post #6772, Spencerville, OH, and member of American Legion Post #191, Spencerville, Indian Lake Eagles Aeries #3615 and Indian Lake Moose Lodge # 1533, both of Lakeview. Pete enjoyed playing golf, and watching the Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Reds, OSU and Penn State.
Father Harold W. Kist conducts a memorial mass at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at St. Mary of the Woods Church, Russells Point. Rita Louise Riedmiller, age 49, passed away at her residence in Rushsylvania on Saturday morning December 19, 2009. She was born April 12, 1960 in Kenton, Ohio, the daughter of the late Leonard and Annabelle Sloan Roberts. She is survived by longtime companion Chuck Metherd of Rushsylvania; 2 sons, Michael (Jill) Riedmiller of Marysville and Benjamin (Fiancé Rashelle Kays) Riedmiller of Akron, a daughter, Megan (Cole) Carpenter of Rushsylvania, and grandson, Ethan Carpenter; brother, Richard Jay (Sharon) Roberts of Dublin; sister, Rae Jean (Joe) Spatz of Bellefontaine, sister-in-law, Marilyn Roberts of Rushsylvania and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was expecting a new grandson Gavin Riedmiller. She was preceded in death by a brother Russell “Happ” Roberts.
She had worked since 1982 at Mary Rutan Hospital as a registered nurse, most recently in the Cardiology Department. She had a great passion for nursing and her patients.
She graduated from Benjamin Logan High School in 1978 and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Bowling Green State University. She was an occasional speaker at mended hearts Association and in 2008 she received the Cameo of Caring Excellence Award. She enjoyed traveling with Chuck, snowmobiling and watching her nieces and nephews play sports. She loved spending time with her children and her grandson.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday December 23rd at the Rushsylvania Church of Christ with Rev. Lynn Cleaveland officiating. Burial will be in the Rushsylvania Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday December 22nd, from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine.

Phyllis Wiladean Hurley

Phyllis Wiladean Hurley, 83, of Jackson Center, passed away on Friday, December 18, 2009 at 4:45 p.m. at Auglaize Acres, Wapakoneta, Ohio.
She was born on August 11, 1926, in West Mansfield, a daughter of the late James and Emma Isabel Southerland Bell. She was also preceded in death by a son, Frank Hurley, and an infant daughter, Beverly Jean.
On August 7, 1949 she married William Wayne Hurley in Bellefontaine and he died in May 2007.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Jackson Center United Methodist Church, a life member of the VFW Post #3316 Ladies Auxiliary, Historical Society, Community Club, and American Legion all of Jackson Center.
She is survived by her children, Janice (Ed) York, Jr., Doug (Joyce) Hurley, Bev (Tom) Suttles, Vic (Rita) Hurley and Phil (Robin) Hurley all of Jackson Center, John (Patsy) Hurley of Sidney and Nancy (Mel) Jackson of Wapakoneta; 23 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lura Mae Hansen of Minnesota and Glendora (Ray) Allen of Bellefontaine and several nieces & nephews.
Pastor Sylvia Hull will officiate a funeral service at Jackson Center United Methodist Church on Wednesday, December 23rd at 10 a.m. Friends may call on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 from 2 -4 & 6 - 8 p.m. at the Sanford Funeral Home, Jackson Center. Burial will be in Shelby Memory Gardens, Sidney.

Paul Edward Wilt

Paul Edward Wilt, 83, of Bellefontaine, died peacefully on Friday, December 18, 2009 at Logan Acres Care Center where he was lovingly cared for.
Paul was born on January 3, 1926 in Bellefontaine, a son of Charles Hewitt and Helen M (Beemer) Wilt. He was raised by his grandparents, Lawrence E. and Rose Ella (Bailey) Beemer.
On June 15, 1943, he married June Evelyn VanBuskirk, who preceded him in death on September 4. 2005. A granddaughter, Kiley Dale Wilt, and a half brother, Donald Grubbs, are also deceased.
Children surviving are Michael (Patricia) Wilt of White Bird, ID, Stephen (Kathryn) Wilt of Louisville, KY and Kimberlee (James) Berton of Bellefontaine; grandchildren, Kristin (James) Clement, Stacey Berton, Jim (Helena) Berton and Matthew Wilt, all of Bellefontaine, Whitney (Ryan) Paulowsky of Atlanta, GA, Morgan Wilt of Louisville, KY, Michael Wilt and Eric Wilt both of Maryland; and eight (8) great grandchildren.
Paul served in the U.S. Navy and was discharged in 1945. He worked for New York Central Railroad for 15 years. He was a Superintendant for Gould Ind. in Urbana, OH and retired in 2001 from Penn Compression in Irwin, PA.
Paul was an exuberant lover of dogs and all nature. He will be remembered for the generous, good humored, gentle man he was.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine and a graveside service will be in the Bellefontaine Cemetery at a later date.

Martha C. “Marti” Gilfillan

Martha C. “Marti” Gilfillan, 86, of Jackson Center, went home to be with God and her loving husband, Dwane, at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2009, at her home surrounded by her loving family, friends and caregivers.
She was born in Little Hocking, Ohio on May 23, 1923. a daughter of the late Harry and Agnes Floyd Curtis. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary.
On June 7, 1947 in Columbus, she married her loving husband, Dwane and he preceded her in death on July 19, 2008.
She leaves behind her daughters, Cindy and Judy both of Jackson Center; grandchildren, Angela (Kelly) Wagner and Jeff (Chrissy) Orzechowski; great-grandchildren, Rhyanna, Hayley, Conner, Jacob and Zach; nieces, nephews and her brother-in-law, Dr. Robert Swank of Chillicothe.
She graduated from Ohio State University in 1946 with a teaching degree. She taught in Shelby, Van Wert, Celina and Jackson Center school systems having retired in 1983. In April 2006 she was inducted into the Teachers Hall of Fame of Jackson Center with the designation of “Teachers Touch Lives.”
The last 30 years of her life has been spent lovingly taking care of her daughter, Cindy, who is disabled from a car accident. She was a devoted care-giver to Cindy and they spent their days watching television, especially Buckeyes and Cowboys football games. She will be greatly missed by her daughters, grandchildren, friends, family, caregivers and her cat, April.
Rev. Mike Hartman officiates a funeral at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 19, 2009 in the Sanford Funeral Home, Jackson Center, where visitation is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Burial is in Glen Cemetery, Port Jefferson, Ohio. There will be a memorial luncheon following.

Byron L. Wilgus, 58, of Bellefontaine, passed away on Monday, December 14, 2009 at Mary Rutan Hospital.
He was born on June 25, 1951 in Bellefontaine to the late Donald and Donna Mae (Norris) Wilgus.
He is survived by his wife, Janet L. (Smith) Wilgus whom he married on November 19, 2000 in Bellefontaine. Also surviving are his daughters, Penny P. Wilgus of Bellefontaine and her mother, Sang R. Pak of Hawaii, Heidi J. (James) Collins of North Lewisburg and Amy A. (Corey) Grant of Belle Center; his pet dogs, Lucky, Marshmallow, Sarge, Trooper, Private, Ranger, a pet cat named Tom and a visiting pet named Blue; brothers, Jim (Sue) Wilgus, John (Lori) Wilgus, Chuck (Sandy) Wilgus and David Wilgus all of Bellefontaine and Phil (Kathy) Wilgus of Columbus; sisters Patricia and Becky Wilgus, both of Bellefontaine; five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by a sister, Sandy Myers.
A 1969 graduate of Benjamin Logan, he was an Army and Air Force veteran serving in Vietnam and Desert Storm. He retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant and enjoyed fishing. He worked at the First United Presbyterian Church in Bellefontaine.
Rev. Rob Fulton will preside over a memorial service at 6:00 pm on Friday, December 18th at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine where friends may call from 4 to 6 prior to the service. A Military Service will be held at 4:00 pm at the funeral home conducted by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.

Luella Kerns Baughman

Luella Kerns Baughman, 93, of West Liberty, formerly of DeGraff died at 8:20 AM Tuesday, December 15, 2009, at Green Hills Center, West Liberty.
She was born near Bellefontaine on June 12, 1916, a daughter of the late Samuel Lane and Chrystal Murdock Kerns. A brother Wendell Kerns also preceded her in death.
She married John Sherman Baughman on April 21, 1935 in Ridgeway and he preceded her in death on March 31, 1993 after 57 years of marriage.
Survivors include four sons, Douglas & Alice Baughman of DeGraff, Clifford & Joyce Baughman of St.Paris, Dale & Carol Baughman of Brookeville and Ronald & Zhanna Baughman of Racine, WI; two daughters, Ramona & Richard Dodds of Temperance, MI and Carol & William Slater of Mansfield, OH; Eleven grandchildren, Mark (Marie) Baughman and Dawn (Tom) Core all of DeGraff, Kent (Sherri) Baughman of Tipp City, Jeff (Sue) Dodds and David (Mary) Dodds both of Petersburg, MI, Kevin (Kelly) Dodds of Boggstown, IN, Brad (Jessica) Baughman of Brookeville, Greg (Sherri) Baughman of Georgetown, IN, Fred (Jen) Slater of Hilliard, Kim (Chad) Dennis of Avon, Anastasia Barakoeva of Racine, WI; and 24 Great-Grandchildren.
She spent her early school years in Ridgeway and in 1934 graduated from Bellefontaine High School. She operated a licensed nursing home at her home near DeGraff, and also worked 23 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Mary Rutan Hospital where she retired in 1981.
She was an active member of the Logansville Community Church, member of the DeGraff Homemakers Club, Fortnightly Music Club, and the Public Employee Retirees. She loved music and took special delight in family gatherings.
Calling hours will be on Friday, December 18, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home in DeGraff.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 19, 2009 in the Logansville Community Church, with Pastor Keith Franks officiating. Burial is in the Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff.

Belva Luvada George

Belva Luvada George, 74, of DeGraff, formerly of Springfield and Urbana, died peacefully Sunday, December 13, 2009 at 8:34 AM in her home following a brief illness.
She was retired from being a nurse’s aide in the Urbana area. She enjoyed reading, children, helping others, and especially going to church. The family was especially proud of Belva when she obtained her GED at the age of 55 years old; she was forced to quit school in the 8th grade to take care of her siblings. Once she obtained her GED she went on to get her realtors license and sold homes until she retired.
She was born April 2, 1935 in Springfield, and was predeceased by her parents, Herbert in 1988 and Birtha “Bert” Francis Kemp Biddle in 1967; two brothers, Robert Alan Biddle (1960), Kenneth Biddle (1968), and a sister, Barbara Ann Flynn (1978).
She is survived by her children; Birtha “Bert” Luvada (Michael) Spessard of Salem VA, Julie Ann (Mike) Pierce of DeGraff, OH, and April LouAnn (Bill) George of Bellefontaine, OH; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.
Calling is Tuesday, December 15, 2009 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Mt. Tabor Church of God outside of DeGraff, OH on the corner of County Road 13 and State Route 235. The funeral is Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Tabor Church of God. Private interment services will be held later at the Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, VA.

Staff Sgt. Dennis J. Hansen

Staff Sgt. Dennis J. Hansen, 31, of Scottsville, New York and formerly of Indian Lake, Ohio passed away at 12:01 p.m. EST Saturday, December 5, 2009, at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany as a result of injuries sustained in Afghanistan. He was a U.S. Soldier stationed at Fort Drum, New York, serving in the 3rd Brigade 1-32 Infantry Regiment and was later attached to 3-71 CAV Squadron during his deployment in Afghanistan.
He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on January 28, 1978, a son of the Dwight and Bonnie Buchenroth Hansen who survive in Bellefontaine, Ohio.
On October 3, 2008 in Watertown, New York, he married the former Jennifer Smith and she survives along with a daughter Alana M. Hansen, age 10 and son, Gabriel J. Hansen, age 7 who reside in Texas, and Michael John Hansen, age 8 months who resides at home; a brother, Jeffrey Allen (Christy) Hansen of Lowville, New York; maternal grandparents, Ethel Buchenroth and the late Joe Buchenroth; paternal grandparents, Grace Hansen and the late Allen Hansen; 2 nieces & 2 nephews; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was a Platoon Sergeant in the U.S. Army in Afghanistan and was a former U.S. Marine for 8 ½ years. He had previous deployments in Africa, Kosovo, Japan, Panama, Cuba, Iraq, two tours in Afghanistan and the Marine Expeditionary Unit in the Mediterranean Sea.
He was an organ donor and was an avid OSU football fan. Dennis enjoyed fishing, golfing, wrestling and woodworking. He loved animals, pumpkin pie and coffee.
Rev. John B. Ellington, Jr. and Pastor Barry Baughman will officiate the funeral service at 1 p.m. Sunday, December 20, 2009 at the Indian Lake High School, Lewistown, Ohio where friends may call two hours prior to the funeral service. Visitation will also be held on Saturday, December 19, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Indian Lake High School, Lewistown. Burial will take place at Huntsville Cemetery, Huntsville, Ohio.

Gary L. Meeker

Gary L. Meeker, 72, of Jackson Center, passed away at 8:11 p.m. Monday, December 7, 2009, at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Sidney.
He was born in Jackson Township on December 10, 1936, a son of the late Kenneth F. and Catherine Louise Hayes Meeker. He also was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kimberly D. Whittenberger in 1990 and an infant brother, Frederick.
On October 6, 1956, he married the former Barbara A. Gies and she preceded him in death on Feb. 17, 2005.
Survivors include a daughter, Lori (Steve) Whittenberger of Sidney; faithful companion, his granddog, Rudy Ann.
He retired from Provico, Botkins in the warehouse.
A member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Jackson Center, he was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Detroit Red Wings, Cleveland Browns and NASCAR.
He was a member of the N.W. Ohio Volunteer Fireman’s Association. He was the former Assistant Fire Chief of the Jackson Center Fire Department and was the first Deputy Chief. He faithfully served the fire department since January of 1962. He also played dartball for Jackson Center North.

Amon L. Petty

Amon L. Petty, 83, of Bellefontaine, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2009 at Mary Rutan Hospital.
He was born on May 30, 1926 in Lawrenceville, IL to the late Floyd B. and Cella (Garnet) Petty.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Carr) Petty, whom he married on December 28, 1951 in Richmond, IN. Also surviving are five sons, Mark A. of Bellefontaine, Timothy L. (Susan) of Beavercreek, OH, Robin M. of Bellefontaine, Douglas O. of Cuyahoga Falls, OH and Christopher F. (Barbara) Petty of Sidney, OH; a sister, Christine Dill of Bellefontaine; nine grandchildren, Megan Jacobs, Maridith, Molly, Joshua, Michele, Heidi, Ryan, Clay, and Joseph Petty; three great grandchildren, Tristin and Sophia Jacobs and Elijah Miller; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Delores Miller Petty and their infant son in 1950; a brother, Louis Petty; and sisters, Mary Norviel and Marceline Anderson.
After 44 years of service, he retired from the United States Postal Service in Bellefontaine. A Navy veteran, serving in WWII, he was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, the B.P.O. Elks in Bellefontaine and was an avid golfer.
Visitations will be on Thursday, December 10th from 6 to 8 at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine. A funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00 am on Friday, December 11th at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bellefontaine with Rev. Patrick Sheridan officiating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery with Military Services by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.

Louise C. Stephenson

Louise C. Stephenson, 93, of Russells Point, passed away at 3:20 p.m. Sunday, December 6, 2009, at Heartland of Bellefontaine.
She was born in Logan County on January 11, 1916, a daughter of the late Ray and Edna May Bickham Cordrey. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Wauneta.
On August 25, 1943, she married Frank S. Stephenson and he preceded her in death on July 14, 1954.
Survivors include a son, George “Rusty” Stephenson, Russells Point; 2 grandsons, Jorge (Stacey) Stephenson of Massachusetts and Mark Stephenson of Celina; 1 great-grandson, Spencer.
She was owner and operator of Indian Lake Gardens and a member of the Indian Lake Community Church.
Pastor Jim Ellington officiates a graveside service at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, December 10th at the Huntsville Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Myron Van Horn Chapel of Sanford-Eichholtz Funeral Home, Lakeview.

Willetta H. Dixon

Willetta H. Dixon, 62, of Bellefontaine, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 6, 2009 at her residence.
She was born in Jamestown, OH on December 5, 1947 to the late Floyd and Margaret (Jacobs) Willis Sr.
On August 22, 1964, she married James Dixon Sr. in Middleburg and he preceded her in death on July 7, 1991. She is also preceded in death by a brother, Richard Willis.
Surviving are her children, James “Jim” (Melissa) Dixon Jr. and Mark (Julie) Dixon, both of Bellefontaine, Tammy (Bill) Nicholl of West Liberty, and Tara (Tom) Doehrman of Ft. Wayne, IN; brothers, Ivan Willis of North Carolina, Floyd Willis Jr. of Norfolk, VA; sisters, Annette (Jim) Long of West Liberty, and Colleen Harford of Huntsville; 10 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Willetta was employed by the Benjamin Logan Local School district for over 30 years. She graduate in 1965 from Logan Hills High School and was a member of the Goshen Friends Church where she enjoyed being involved. She especially enjoyed spending time with her friends, family, and grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will be on Wednesday, December 9th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine. There will also be a one hour of calling prior to the service at the Goshen Friends Church in Zanesfield where a funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Fred Kensler will preside. Burial will be in the Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Ethel Mae Hassel

Ethel Mae Hassel, 87, of Bellefontaine, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2009 at the Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus.
She was born on September 11, 1922 in Urbana, OH to the late Edgar Leroy Sr. and Jane Marie (Shackleford) Boyd.
On June 26, 1942 she married John Hassel in Urbana, OH and he preceded her in death on January 21, 1982. Also preceding her in death are two brothers, Edgar Leroy Jr. and Francis Elwood Boyd and two sisters, Patricia Ann Ratleff and Helen Lucille Boyd.
Surviving are three brothers, John Alfred Boyd Sr. of Urbana, Samuel Henry (JenneMary) Boyd of Columbus, Lawrence Nelson Boyd of LaBelle, FL and several nieces and nephews.
During WWII, Ethel worked at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. She retired from Westinghouse in Bellefontaine after many years of service.
She was a 1940 graduate of Urbana High School, and later went to Urbana College and graduate in 1974. In 1977 she received her MBA from the University of Dayton.
Ethel was a member of Grace AME Church in Bellefontaine.
The Rev. Ray Harper will conduct a funeral service at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine where friends may call one (1) hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Rushsylvania Cemetery.

Mildred Corina “Millie” Moberly

Mildred Corina “Millie” Moberly, 100, of West Liberty, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at the Green Hills Care Center in West Liberty.
She was born on July 13, 1909 in Clifton, OH to the late Evan D. and Bessie (Phillips) Baker.
On February 9, 1926 she married Lloyd B. Moberly and he preceded her in death on May 27, 1959.
Mrs. Moberly was an active church member, community volunteer, and accomplished seamstress in the Fayette County area. In 1974 she moved to Wapakoneta and following the death of longtime companion, Philip Hut, in 1999, she moved to Logan County to live with her daughter.
At the time of her death, she was a member of the Galilee Lutheran Church in Russells Point, the Indian Lake Senior Citizens, and the Friendly Senior Center in Bellefontaine.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Betty Lou and Peter Crowe of Battle Creek, MI; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Gordon of New Carlisle; and the family of Philip Hut in Wapakoneta.
Preceding her in death is a sister Thelma McBeth.
Pastor Cheryl Siegenthaler and Rev. David Buchenroth will conduct a funeral service on 11:00 am on Friday, December 4th at the Green Hills Chapel in West Liberty where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Bloomingburg Cemetery near Washington Courthouse in Fayette County.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Green Hills Endowment Fund, 6557 US Route 68 South, West Liberty, OH 43357.

Dorothy E. Nickell

Dorothy E. Nickell, 90, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 5:43 p.m. Monday, November 30, 2009, at Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine, Ohio.
She was born in Hardin County on April 9, 1919, a daughter of the late Herman and Rachel W. Ford Tracy. She also was preceded in death by one sister, Audrey, two brothers, Edwin F. & Harold L, and two infant brothers.
On May 15, 1941, she married Ronald E. Nickell and he preceded her in death on January 11, 1998.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan (Melvin) Davis, Arlington, Ohio; granddaughter, Amy R. (Michael) Rettig, Beavercreek; grandson, Ryan M. (Amy) Davis, Bowling Green, Ohio; two great-grandchildren, Elise Rettig and Cooper Davis; three sisters, Margie (James) Patterson of Pickerington, Jane Jenkins, Bellefontaine and Ann Miller, Cridersville; one brother, Kay (Roxie) Tracy of Huntsville.
She was a homemaker and member of the Huntsville United Methodist Church, Bellefontaine Chapter #459 O.E.S. where she was former Worthy Matron and was Grand Representative of Kansas in Ohio from 1979 to 1982. Dorothy was O.E.S. President for District 11 in 1991. She graduated in 1938 from Huntsville Schools and was an avid OSU Buckeye fan.
Pastor Bryan Meadows officiates a funeral at 11 a.m. Friday, December 4, 2009 in the Huntsville United Methodist Church. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Myron Van Horn Chapel of Sanford-Eichholtz Funeral Home, Lakeview and also one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Burial is in Roundhead Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Huntsville United Methodist Church, American Heart Association or the Susan G. Koman for the Cure.
