United Way ready for Warm Clothes for Kids Print E-mail

With approximately 4 weeks to go, the Logan County United Way campaign is approaching the 30% mark with close to $213,510 pledged thus far.

Jack Reser and Terri Schneider, campaign co-chairs, indicate that their volunteers are busy distributing materials to local businesses and individuals. They lauded the efforts of these volunteers noting that "volunteers" are the heart and soul of the local United Way.

Bruce Lile, Donald Bradley, and John Bayliss stand in the spotlight at BHS.
The Logan County Election Forum was held at the Bellefontaine High School on Thursday evening and was carried live on 1390 WBLL The Bell.

The Logan County branch of the American Association of University Women and The Bellefontaine Examiner sponsored the event.

Local candidates answered questions that were selected by the sponsored organizations, which included questions submitted by readers of the Examiner. (Audio interviews included.)

A Bellefontaine man was charged with rape late Wednesday night.

The Bellefontaine Police Department arrested Jeffery Roberts, 27, of 120 Spruce Avenue, for allegedly raping an 8-year-old Bellefontaine girl at her house yesterday.

He was also charged with felonious assault after kicking her in the head.

Police were notified by the girl's mom shortly after eleven p.m.

Roberts was lodged in the Logan County Jail.

tiger_logo_on_10-07.jpgThe West Liberty-Salem high school and junior high cross country teams dominated the Ohio Heritage Conference meet at Cedarville University Thursday evening.

The varsity girls team won their fourth straight league title.

Team Scores:  1st West Liberty-Salem 41, 2nd Northeastern 46, 3rd Greeneview 67, 4th Southeastern 87, 5th Cedarville 115, 6th Mechanicsburg

The Big Orange was led by the senior duo of Hillary Seely and Kelsie Markin.

Raiders and Chiefs earn volleyball wins, Riverside loses a thriller Print E-mail

In a match that decided the NWCC title, Riverside lost a five-game thriller at Fairbanks.

The scores were 19-25, 25-23, 35-33, 27-29, 11-15.

Taylor Leiss had 16 points, 5 aces, 9 kills, and 2 blocks.

Amelia Carter recorded 12 points, 17 kills, and 14 blocks.
