LCHS planning a Transportation Museum and planning for the holidays Print E-mail

The Trustees' meeting of the Logan County Historical Society was held on Thursday evening at the Logan County Museum.

A grant has been applied for to help pay for the construction of the Logan County Transportation Museum.

The grant is an 80/20 grant.  The LCHS needs $600,000 for the 20%. 

Honda has already agreed to give the LCHS $300,000 over a three-year time frame. The LCHS currently has $465,000 pledged or in hand. (Video and audio interviews included.)

Logan County Fair Board continues to push for year-round lease Print E-mail

commissioners_host_meeting_with_fair_board_over_lease_from_11-13-08.jpgThe Logan County Fair Board remains adamant in their hopes of working out a lease that will give them control over the fairgrounds all year long.

Several fair board members and other community leaders jammed into the Colonial Building Thursday morning to share those feelings with Commissioners Bayliss, Reser, and Knight.

The fair board said they recently received a letter from the commissioners that proposed a three-week per year lease for the grounds instead of the usual year-round agreement.

Commissioner Knight, who's president of the commission, tried to answer many questions about the proposal. (Video interviews included.)

Bellefontaine senior baseball standout Zach Mosbarger signed a letter of intent with Lake Erie College Thursday afternoon.

The outfielder and pitcher was joined by his parents and head coach Mark Brunswick during a ceremony at the high school.

Lake Erie is a Division II school in Painesville, which is east of Cleveland.

The school's baseball program is on the upswing. They play in the same league as Findlay, Tiffin, and Ashland. (Video interviews included.)

Community Connection Fund awards several teacher grants Print E-mail

The Logan County Electric Cooperative is proud to announce the second annual Energizing Education grant recipients. The Cooperative will also hold a luncheon Friday to honor the winning teachers.

The projects involve a team of teachers, but the eight lead teachers to receive funding for their special classroom initiatives are:

Lois Stoll, Benjamin Logan High School, for ‘Can You Hear Me Now'?  Students will be taught to use software to create their own podcasts as a tool for learning.

Popular county road re-opens, city street under construction Print E-mail

Crews from the Logan County Engineer's Office have completed the replacement of a box culvert on County Road 24 between Logansville and DeGraff.

The box culvert was replaced in advance of the 2009 paving program.

County Road 24 between Township Road 43 and State Route 47 re-opened yesterday afternoon.

You're advised to drive with caution because of uneven grade changes and loose stone.

"Rough Road" or "Construction Ahead" signs will remain posted until the final resurfacing is completed.
