Crime victims will be able to find out when an inmate is released with the help of changes to Ohio's criminal tracking system.
State officials say a $100,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice will allow Ohio to upgrade its current tracking system by 2010.
Victims already can check the status of current inmates by phone and e-mail through the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction's internal system. They can also get information on releases, transfers, escapes, and deaths through a national automated information and notification network.

There was a fatal crash in rural Logan County near Middleburg Tuesday morning.
Troopers from the Marysville Post of the State Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle accident on County Road 144 near State Route 287 just after 7:30.
Maysa Fleece, 31, of Kenton, was driving a '97 Jeep Cherokee southeast bound and Daren Griffith, 40, of Marysville, was driving a 2000 International semi northwest bound.
The vehicles collided head-on in the northwest bound lane.

The Christmas spirit arrived early at the Village of Russells Point, as the village benefited from the generosity of Indian Lake resident Michael D. Miller.
Miller donated a Christmas tree to the village for the municipal office.
Mayor Greg Iiams on behalf of council acknowledged his appreciation during the Monday evening meeting. (Video interview included.)

The Logan County Children's Services Board held its monthly meeting on November 20th.
There were two members of the public in attendance, as well as a representative for the Logan County Resource Parents (Foster/Adoptive Parents).
During the month of October:
- Investigations and Assessments were conducted involving 66 children.
- In-Home Services were being provided to 79 children at the end of the month.

Police say a southern Ohio man twice shot at his sister's boyfriend with a bow and arrow, missing the first time but grazing the man's head and wounding him on the second try.
Washington Court House police say James Wilson burst into the home of 47-year-old David Routte early Sunday morning and kicked in the door to the bedroom where Routte was sleeping.
Police say Wilson was upset with Routte for how he was treating Wilson's sister. A police report says Wilson's first shot lodged in a pillow.
