Ventriloquist Mark Wade performs with the help of an IL 4th grade student.
Indian Lake Elementary faculty asked parents Wednesday evening if they have their “A.C.T. Together” as a part of the Anti-Bully Bash held at the Indian Lake High School Auditorium.
Act is an acronym for Ask nicely, Communicate firmly and Tell an adult and that is exactly what the school’s faculty have been teaching their students. It’s also what they are telling the parents to teach their children, which was the purpose for Wednesday evening’s event. (Audio and video interviews included.)

Deborah Delisle
The State Board of Education unanimously voted Tuesday afternoon to appoint Deborah Delisle as the next state superintendent of public instruction.
"I deeply appreciate the opportunity to work with the State Board on the selection of Deborah as our next state superintendent of public instruction," said Governor Ted Strickland. "I believe Deborah is exactly the right person for the job at the right time. I look forward to working with her to accomplish our shared goal of building a world-class education system for Ohio students."
Deborah Delisle replaces Susan Tave Zelman, who has served as state superintendent since 1999. Zelman announced her resignation earlier this year and will start November 3rd as the senior vice president of education at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting in Washington, D.C.

Richard Cooey
Ohio has executed a 5-foot-7, 267-pound double murderer who argued he was too fat to die humanely by lethal injection.
Richard Cooey died at 10:28 a.m. Tuesday at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville.
There were no immediate reports of problems finding suitable veins to deliver the deadly chemicals.
His attorneys had argued that his weight problem could make it difficult for prison staff to access a vein. A prisons spokeswoman said earlier that Cooey received a pre-execution exam and was cleared.
Cooey was the first inmate executed in Ohio in more than a year, and the first since the end of an unofficial national moratorium on executions that began last year while the U.S. Supreme Court reviewed Kentucky's lethal injection procedure.
