A former central Ohio sheriff's deputy was acquitted Wednesday of a charge that he sexually abused an 8-year old female relative.
A judge dismissed two other charges of gross sexual imposition agaist 47-year old Terry Wertz of Marysville. Wertz has been on administrative leave from the Union County Sheriff's Office since the investigation began in October of 2004. Sheriff Rocky Nelson says he plans an internal investigation before deciding Wertz's status. Wertz's defense attorney says his client was acquitted because the alleged victim's testimony at trial did not match what was initially told to investigators. |
