gary_baughman_photo_from_aggravated_vehicular_homicide_arrest_from_31906.jpgTwo Amish boys were hit while riding their bikes Sunday night.  The motorist was Gary Baughman (pictured left).  

An accident southwest of Belle Center last night killed a local Amish boy and seriously injured his brother.

The Logan County Sheriff's Office reports that Jared and Jonathon Miller were struck while riding their bikes near their home on County Road 97 in Richland Township.

Lead investigator Jeff Anspach reports that the boys were northbound on Road 97 when they were hit by a northbound pickup driven by Gary Baughman, 56, of Belle Center.  The wreck happened at 7:30.

Jared Miller was Medflighted to St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.  He was pronounced dead at the hospital.  Jared was 6 years-old.

Jonathon Miller was Medflighted to Children's Hospital in Columbus.  The 8 year-old suffered serious injuries.  He's listed in critical condition.

Baughman was not injured.  He was arrested and charged with OVI, aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault, failure to maintain assured clear distance, and no safety belt.  He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.

Paramedics from Richland Township and Huntsville assisted the sheriff's office.
