60759_tn1.jpgThe Wind Truth Alliance Group hosted a "Meet the 83rd District Candidates" meeting at Tree Links Golf Course Thursday evening.

Wind Truth Alliance is a local citizen-founded organization established to promote the truth about wind turbines in Logan and Champaign Counties.

After the group's presentation, each candidates spoke briefly about their campaigns.

The candidates also spoke personally to the public after the event. (Audio interviews included.)

The Wind Truth Alliance Group is working towards responsible regulations for the wind turbines.

The group talked about the deficiencies in the current amendment.

There is nothing in the current amendment to require that roads be restored to preconstruction conditions. The turbine parts are heavy and require heavy machinery to move and install them, which over time will cause damage to roadways.

Turbines must be connected by cables that are run underground. These cables would cross neighboring properties and roadways. There is nothing in the amendment to prevent your property from being crossed.

Also, there are no state noise regulations established for the turbines, and no taxes currently in place.

Susan Reames, a member of the group, told the crowd while discussing the noise from the turbines, "I went to Illinois and I saw the 500' machines, and they make noise."

For more information on this group and their cause visit their website at, www.windtruth.info.

A crowd of about 40 people listened to learn more about each candidate running for state representative.
