Tiger track teams post easy wins Print E-mail

tiger_logo_on_10-07.jpgThe West Liberty-Salem Jr. High girls and boys track and field teams dominated a quad meet hosted by WLS Friday evening.

On the girls side, West Liberty-Salem tallied 114 1/2 points.

Mechanicsburg was second with 48 points.

Fairlawn took 3rd with 26 points and Greeneview finished 4th with 15.5 points.

Two individual event winners for the Lady Tigers were Alyssa Neff in the 100 and 200 meter dashes and Meghan Vogel in the 1600 and 800 meter runs.

Other 1st places for WLS included Janelle VanHorn in the high jump, Brenna Hayes in the long jump, Alexis Smith in the 100 meter hurdles, and Melany Ward in the 200 meter hurdles.

The Lady Tigers also placed 1st in the 4x100, 4x200, and 4x400 relays.

The Tigers boys team placed 1st with 120 points.

Greeneview finished 2nd with 49 1/2 points.

Mechanicsburg was 3rd with 47 1/2 and Fairlawn took 4th with 10 points.

Two individual event winners for WLS were Zach Konkle in the 100 meter dash and 200 meter hurdles and Ryan Meister in the 1600 and 800 meter runs.

Other 1st places for WLS included Jordan Wright, discus; Greg White, long jump; Michael Yoder, 400 meter dash; and Michael Mack in the 200 meter dash.

The Tigers also placed 1st in the 4x100, 4x200, and 4x400 relays.

The Jr. High Tigers are back in action Monday at Mechanicsburg.
