Indian Lake baseball and WLS softball still perfect Print E-mail

As featured on 1390 WBLL, Tipp City edged Bellefontaine 6-5 in varsity baseball at Blue Jacket Park.

Pitching dominated the first few innings and then both teams scored several runs late.

The Chiefs scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to force a 3-3 tie. (Audio interview included.)

Cambden Sauls put the Red Devils back in front with a three-run homer in the top of the seventh inning.

Bellefontaine scored two runs in their final at-bat, but couldn't plate the tying run.

BHS hurt themselves with three errors and Tipp City committed six errors.

The Chiefs are 2-1 and they will visit Tipp City today.

The Bellefontaine JV team fell to Tipp City 11-1 in five innings.

The Chiefs were held to two hits.

Greg Huffman suffered the loss.

Bellefontaine (JV) is hosting Tipp City today at Blue Jacket Park.

The Indian Lake varsity team defeated Northwestern 4-1.

Kendall Lewis tossed a complete game and recorded 12 strikeouts.

The Lakers are 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the CBC.

They play at Northwestern today.

The JV Lakers beat the Warriors 3-1.

Jacob Bickham earned the win.

The Benjamin Logan varsity team outslugged Urbana 9-8.

Trent Kuhn smacked a home run in the first inning to spark the Raiders.

Jonathon Robson was 3-4 with two doubles.

Jeremiah Kerns, Logan Conley, and Shane James each recorded doubles.

Lee Kerns was the winning pitcher.

The Raiders are 3-1.

The West Liberty-Salem JV team clubbed Northeastern 20-9.

Chris White, Erik Thomas, Brock Bahan, Ryan Ropp, and T.R. Nisonger had three RBI's apiece.

Collin Link and Brad Franz each had two hits.

Cody Allen and Austin Lapp each added a hit.

Ropp earned the win in relief.

In varsity softball, Riverside fell to Bethel 4-1.

Brittany Shough led the Pirates with a double.

Riverside is 1-3 overall.

Northwestern edged Indian Lake 2-0.

The Lakers hurt themselves with five errors.

Ace Jill Wildermuth tossed a two-hitter, but suffered the loss.

Julianne Minnich went 3-3 with two doubles to lead Indian Lake's offense.

Coach Cramer's team is 3-2 overall and 0-1 in the CBC.

Urbana defeated Benjamin Logan 4-1.

The Raiders are at Urbana today.

Bellefontaine beat Tipp City 2-0 at Blue Jacket.

Sophomore Kara Morrison threw a two-hitter and recorded five strikeouts. She retired 20 consecutive batters.

Morrison also had a single and a stolen base.

Kelanie Garman had a single and a run.

Heather Alinson scored and Justine Peterson recorded a single.

The Chiefs are 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the CBC.

West Liberty-Salem blanked Northeastern 4-0.

Senior standout Emily Kauffman earned the win.

Katie Detwiler was 2-2 with a double and a home run.

Abbey Ledford and Haleigh Hickenbottom each added two hits.

WLS is 5-0, 2-0. They will host Triad tonight.

Waynesfield-Goshen shutout Upper Scioto Valley 6-0.

Freshman Shelby Gilroy tossed a two-hitter.

Serena Foor led the attack with three hits, including an inside-the-park two-run homer.

Lindsay Harmon, Alex Crawford, Ali Pitchford, Hailey Whitaker, and Gilroy added singles.

The Tigers are 1-1.

The Indian Lake 8th grade girls fastpitch team beat Triad 14-4.

Maci Jones fired a one-hitter and struck out five.

Taylor Hakes was 2-4 and Kayla Thieman added a double.

Indian Lake visits Marion today.
