| Fair Board Announces Opening for Judges |

Fair Board member Diana Kenne spoke of the upcoming fair and the need for some non-livestock judges. (Video interview included.) Some of the classes include: Creative Writing, Woodworking & Electricity, Archery, Vet Science, Creative Arts, Home Furnishings & Geneology, Agricultural Engineering, Rockets and Airplanes. Watch Kenne discuss the need for a variety of judges. Interested community members may contact the Extension Office at 599-4227. In other news, Tyler Murphy spoke on behalf of the Junior Fair Board and acknowledged their participation in several events including; Relay For Life, Co-op at Indian Lake and "Milk a Cow," which will be held at the upcoming fair. Logan County Commissioner John Bayliss announced that plans have been received for the new restrooms at the fair. Work is expected to start in May. The Treasurer's Report was approved including recent funding from the state. Monies went to paying for bleachers and paying off the fair credit card. Board members Bill Kelly and Jackie Woods presented information on the recent break-in and vandalism at the fairgrounds. The Junior Fair Board, Cafeteria, and Senior Fair Board Office were all damaged. Clean up continues and the three teenagers involved are expected to be sentenced in May. The Lake Avenue gate is partially closed due to the recent break-in. It was suggested that ATV'S be included with the motorcycle racing. The 2008 Fair badges will have a notation that they are the property of the Logan County Agricultural Society. Finally, upon recommendation from Ron Murphy, approval was received to use $800 of the Poultry Committee money for a concrete floor in the new addition. The Fair Board meets again on Wednesday, May 14th at 7:30 p.m. |
