Indian Lake senior baseball standout Michael Morgan signed a letter of intent with Lake Erie College Thursday afternoon.

The shortstop and pitcher was joined by his parents and head coach Brian Tidwell during a ceremony in the board office.

Lake Erie is a Division III school in Painesville, which is east of Cleveland. (Video interviews included.)

The school's baseball program is on the upswing and will compete in Division II next year in the same league that features Findlay, Tiffin, and Ashland.

Morgan plays baseball nearly year round and his passion got the attention of first-year coach Brian McGee.

Morgan said early playing time and the school's criminal justice program were two of the reasons he chose Lake Erie.

Watch Morgan discuss why he selected the Storm.

He is the second Laker to sign a letter of intent.

Pitcher Kendall Lewis committed to Eastern Michigan in mid-November.

Morgan is expected to play shortstop at Lake Erie.

Coach Tidwell said it was easy to promote a player like Michael.

Watch him describe Morgan's game.

Morgan has helped guide the Lakers to a 6-0 start.
