Chieftain boys take first, BL boys and WLS girls earn second in weekend track meets Print E-mail

After the meet, Coach Davis said, "We are right there with league favorite Tipp City (after throwing out steeplechase scores). Our improvement should be significant as our underclass ladies gain more and more experience."

The Benjamin Logan Boys track team finished 2nd out of 14 teams Friday night at the Miami East Invitational. 

Placing first for the Raiders were Ross Barnes in the High Jump, Cory Phalen in the 200 meter dash, Tyler Codora in the 400 meter dash, the 4 x 800 relay team of Jordan Penhorwood, Logan Reames, Derek McMillen, and Ross Barnes and the 4 x 200 relay team of George Daniel, Cody Titus, Cory Phalen, and Steven Campbell, and the 4 x 400 relay team of Steven Campbell, Logan Reames, Tyler Codora, and Ross Barnes.  

Second place finishes were captured by Logan Reames in the pole vault and the 4 x 100 meter relay team of Daniel, Titus, Campbell, and Phalen.  

The Raiders are in action again on Tuesday at Northeastern.

The Benjamin Logan girls team finished 5th at the Miami East Invitational on Friday.

Scarlet Tevis, Mary Kenoyer, Lynn Holden, Larrilyn Yelton  

The West Liberty-Salem girls track and field team finished 2nd at the Anna Invitational on Saturday behind 1st place perennial power Minster.

Heather Bumbalough led the way for the Lady Tigers with 2nd place finishes in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles.

Michelle Mack placed 2nd in the 200 meter dash, Courtney Karg placed 3rd in the 1600 meter run, Hillary Seely placed 3rd in the 3200 meter run and Kelsie Markin took 4th place in the pole vault and 3200 meter run.

The WLS boys team placed 4th behind 1st place Minster, 2nd place New Bremen, and 3rd place Anna.

For the Tigers, Joe Yoder had 2nd place finishes in the high jump and 110 meter hurdles and Lance Kitchen placed 2nd in the 300 meter hurdles and 3rd in the 110 meter hurdles.

Brice Baumgardner had 4th place finishes in the long jump and 200 meter dash.

The Tigers are back in action Tuesday, hosting a five-team meet with Bellefontaine, Northwestern, Fairlawn, and Springfield Catholic.

The Benjamin Logan Junior High boys team placed fourth out of 14 teams with 59.5 points at the Indian Valley Invitational on Saturday.

Winning events for the team were Bryan Newland in the pole vault with a height of 7'6", Caleb Titus in the 200 hurdles with a time of 28.4, and the 4x400 relay team consisting of Caleb Titus, Quint Terry, Patrick Graber, and Eric Olson with a time of 4:06.

Placing in the top five in events were: Quint Terry 2nd place in the 400 with a time of 59 seconds and Dylan McGarry 3rd place in the pole vault with a height of 7'.

Also placing for the team were Caleb Titius 7th place in the 100 dash, Patrick Graber 8th place in the 110 hurdles, Dustin Bowers 8th place in the shot, the 4x100 relay in 8th place, the 4x200 relay in 7th place, Eric Olson in 7th place in the 800, Dylan McGarry 5th place in the high jump, and Eric Olson 6th place in the high jump.

The Benjamin Logan Middle School Girls competed in the Indian Valley Track Invitational this past weekend and finished 8th out of 13 teams with 23 points.

Scoring for the girls were:

Marissa Wilbur was 3rd in the 100m Hurdles

Courtney Forsythe was 7th in the 1600m run

Lauren Johns was 8th in the 400m dash

Madison Leis was 6th in the pole vault

Marissa Wilbur was 7th in the 200m hurdles

Courtney Forsythe was 5th in the 800m run

An the 4x400m relay team of Kirsten Milton, Marissa Wilbur, Ciarra Wirick and Courtney Forsythe was 4th.
