The Board held their regular meeting at Bellefontaine Middle School. Students gave presentations to the board, including information on Logan County, International Communications and Farming. (Video interview included.) The District Spelling Bee winner, Evan Snapp, was acknowledged along with PSAT Honors, the Ohio Model United Nations Teams, Math League and Math Counts Teams. Special cogratulations were also given to three high school students who qualified as National Merit Finalists. Watch Superintendent Dr. Larry Anderson discuss many of the recent accomplishments. The list of the groups and their advisors are as follows: State Math Counts Team - Cathy Wiley, Online Math League Competition - Cathy Wiley, Power of the Pen Regional Qualifiers - Kris Swisher, PSAT Honors - Kris Swisher, Model United Nations - Sandi Chervenak, iEARN - Kris Swisher and Janice Miller, Logan County Spelling Bee - Kris Swisher, National Merit Finalist - Debbie Ellis, State Science Fair Qualifiers - Debbie Ellis, Martin Essex School for Gifted - Debbie Ellis, American Mathematics Contest - Debbie Ellis, Columbus Technical Society Honor - Debbie Ellis. In the Superintendent's Report, resignations by Barbara Altman 5th Grade, Mark Barlow, HS American History, Sue Iseman, 8th Grade Language Arts, and Alona Kauffman, Northeastern Food Service were accepted. Barlow, Iseman, and Kauffman are retiring. The board updated several policies and approved the disposal of items no longer used including wood and metal lathes and 3 buses in which several bids have already been received. The next Bellefontaine Board of Education meeting will be held April 28th at 6:30 p.m. at the board office on Ludlow Road. |
