DeGraff Village Council met in regular session on Tuesday night.

The council discussed spring clean-up throughout the village and at the cemetery.

The new water tower project is almost ready to begin. 

Also, spending by the village department and committee heads was addressed by Fiscal Officer Linda Harford. (Audio and video interviews included.)

The street department is looking into a new way for village residents to dispose of trash and leaves. Bags of leaves are being set out with their trash on trash days, and trash is being set out with bags of leaves on leaf pick-up days. They are looking into color coding bags.

Fiscal Officer Linda Harford said the village is waiting for a closing letter from Washington, D.C. before they can take bids on the installation of the new water tower.

Harford also addressed the council on spending that is being done by the village departments and committee heads.

Harford wants each group to look at their budget before each monthly meeting so they are aware of their financial standings. Harford wants them all to reduce their spending by 10%-20%.

The 2006-2007 audit report has not been received yet, but Harford said there is a copy available in the office if citizens would like to view it. 

Zoning brought attention to the council about a few property owners that are doing home improvements without permits. 

Spring clean-up is finished at the cemetery. Councilman Gary Comer said there are driveways at the cemetery that are in need of repair. The plans are to grate the drives to level them out, then top them with crushed limestone. The repairs will be done in the next 3-4 weeks.
