Over 600 people, mostly children, attended during the 3 hours of food and fun. More than 200 kids and parents came through the door for the free event in the first 15 minutes! Kidfest is a part of Children's Services efforts to promote child abuse prevention in the month of April. Kids and their parents were treated to free hot dogs, popcorn, cookies to decorate, soft drinks, face painting, and clowns who made balloon animals for the kids. Family and Children First Council, Consolidated Care, Logan County Health District, Help Me Grow, W.I.C., Logan County Library, C.A.S.A., Bellefontaine Exchange Club and the local Shriners all provided fun, toys, games, and information promoting ways to keep children and families safe. Last week, the Logan County Children's Services Board held its fourth board meeting for the year. Some of the highlights of the meeting were discussion of the Outreach Programs in the county. The Western Neighborhood Outreach Center hosted a Parent Dinner on March 26th. The kids made and served their parents pizzas. At the Chippewa Neighborhood Outreach Center, Master Gardener's representatives returned on April 15th to speak about gardening and preparing for springtime gardening efforts. Intake Supervisor Kay Burkett presented information on screening guidelines for Child Abuse and Neglect Investigations. The next regular meeting of the board will be May 8th at 5:00 p.m. |
