As featured on 1390 WBLL, the Bellefontaine varsity baseball team edged Tecumseh 5-4 at Blue Jacket Park. (Audio interview and video highlight included.) The Chiefs were down 4-1 late, but scored three runs in the sixth inning to tie the game and then plated the winning run in their final at-bat. Sophomore TJ Garman had an outstanding game. He went 4-4, including the game-winning single in the seventh and a two-run homer in the sixth inning. Watch Garman's game-winner against reliever Kyle Furlong. Josh Kauffman scored the winning run. Brandon Winter earned the win in relief. The Chiefs hurt themselves with four errors, five walks, and two hit batters. Bellefontaine is 5-2 overall and 3-2 in league play. The Lakers are 6-2 overall and 3-2 in the CBC. D.J. Postle, Matt Yanchik, Tyler Maddox, Michael Morgan, and Cody Vanhorn had base hits for Indian Lake. The Lakers travel to Anna on Friday. The Bellefontaine JV baseball team drubbed Tecumseh 13-0. Greg Huffman earned the win and Derrick Schmidt powered the attack with three hits. The Chiefs are 6-2. The West Liberty-Salem JV baseball team beat host Southeastern 11-1 in five innings. For the Tigers, Cody Allen was 2-3 with a triple, double and 4 RBI, Collin Link was 2-4 with a double, Sean King had a hit and 2 RBI, Brad Frantz also had a hit and an RBI. Also adding hits for the Tigers were Zach Woodruff and Ryan Ropp, while Erik Thomas added an RBI. On the mound, Canaan Thornburg picked up the win going 4 innings striking out six and walking five. Austin Lapp worked the last inning and struck out 2. Defensively, the Tigers committed no errors. In freshman baseball, Benjamin Logan handled Bellefontaine 10-0 in five innings. Colt Stover tossed a one-hitter. Matt Cira and Artie Zell each collected two hits. Indian Lake's 8th Grade Baseball team improved to 4-0 by beating Wapakoneta 13-1. Trevor Jacobs, Travis Francis, Ben Frey, and Zach Maier each had two hits apiece. Jacobs and Dillon Johnston handled the pitching and allowed only 4 hits while striking out 7. The Bellefontaine varsity softball team beat Tecumseh 5-3 at Blue Jacket. Kara Morrison tossed a complete game two-hitter. Tiffany LeVan led the offense with four hits and teammate Justine Peterson added three hits. The Chiefs started fast by scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning. BHS is 6-3 overall. West Liberty-Salem steamrolled Southeastern 10-0 in five innings. Senior standout Emily Kauffman earned the win. Abbey Ledford had two hits, including a home run. Shae Blake collected two hits. The Tigers are 12-0, 6-0. WLS plays Greeneview today. The Indian Lake varsity softball team outscored Graham 11-5. The Lakers collected 15 hits. Michelle Herren and Chelsea Cramer each had three hits. Jessica Lininger and Jill Wildermuth had two hits apiece. Chelsey Hoyles went 2-4, including a triple. Wildermuth earned the win. Coach Cramer's team is now 7-2 overall and 4-1 in the CBC. The Lakers travel to Dayton Stebbins on Thursday. The Benjamin Logan JV softball team pounded out 25 hits to beat Northwestern 25-10. Lauren Bycynski picked up the win with relief help from Kirsten Givens. Leading the bats for the team were Caroline Lehmon, 5 for 6 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI's; Deanna Dill, 4 for 6 with 3 doubles and 5 RBI's; Chelsea Keckler 4 hits, Lauren Bycynski and Caitie Fields with 3 hits each and Jordan Simpkins with a double and 3 RBI's.
The Raiders are 7-1 overall and 5-0 in the CBC.
The Benjamin Logan freshman softball team lost 9-8 at Marysville. Jessica Davia, Allissa Allford, and Chelsea Cox each had two hits. Chelsea Ratterman added a double.
In 8th grade fastpitch, Indian Lake lost 15-4 vs. Covington. Maci Jones took the loss. Taylor Drake and Jones each had 2 hits. |
