Judd, 33, of Rushsylvania was charged with conspiracy to commit murder on April 6th. During today's hearing, Chief Assistant Prosecutor Eric Stewart questioned Logan County Sheriff's Office detective Keith LeVan. (Audio interview included.) Recordings of conversations between Judd and informant Terry Current were played. Current, who spent time in prison with Judd's father, Joe Rosebrook, said the target of the alleged murder plot was Carl Stevenson. LeVan has spent the last several months following up on the disappearance of 18-year-old Michael Lattimer, who was a potential witness against Joe Rosebrook in a burglary case. Lattimer has been missing since late '99. According to the tapes, Current introduced the idea of eliminating Stevenson. Judd believed that Stevenson had been talking to authorities about Lattimer's disappearance. He suggested that Current sneak up behind Stevenson and strike him with a baseball bat. Judd was hoping this would stop Stevenson from testifying. Judd then said he could help with the payment by selling his car for $1,000. Although Judge Ross found there was probable cause to forward the case to a grand jury, he said the evidence was underwhelming. Finally, Judd’s bond was reduced from $100,000 to $5,000. He posted bond Wednesday afternoon. Chief Assistant Proseuctor Stewart spoke with Bill Tipple after today's hearing. Rosebrook, Sr., 52, is currently serving a ten-year prison sentence for conspiracy to commit aggravated murder, four counts of receiving stolen property, three counts of concealing or altering a motor vehicle identification number, and one count of obstructing justice. |
