Lakers win twice, Pirates win, and Chiefs split in softball PDF Print E-mail

ball_and_bat_photo_on_4-08.jpgThe Indian Lake Lady Lakers were on the diamond for a doubleheader Saturday against Kenton.

The Lakers came from behind late to win both games by identical 5-4 final scores.

Game one brought some drama with it, as Jessica Lininger led off the bottom of the 7th with a single, moved to 2nd on Chelsea Cramer's sacrifice bunt, advanced to third on a throwing error, and crossed home on a game-tying RBI single from Jill Wildermuth.

In the bottom of the 8th, Alain Pummell singled with two out, went to 2nd on a throwing error, and scored the winning run when Michelle Herren singled.

Wildermuth also picked up the win on the mound.

The Lakers found magic once more in game 2, as Herren led off the bottom of the 7th inning with a triple and then scoring the winning run on a passed ball. 

Wildermuth picked up a 2nd win on the mound, striking out 9 while giving up just 4 hits.

Offensively on the day Wildermuth 5 hits with a triple and that game-winning RBI. Julianne Minnich had 3 hits and 2RBI's in the first game, and in game 2 Michelle Herren had a triple to go along with 3 runs scored, Cramer had a double and an RBI, and Kerstin Harmon and Becca Cooper each had hits.

Indian Lake is now 10-2 overall and 5-1 in the CBC.

The Lakers go on the road to take on Ben Logan Monday.

Riverside was at Mechanicsburg in softball, with the Pirates coming out on top 4-1.

Brittany Shough, Abby Heaberlin, and Ashley Jones all had RBI singles for the Lady Pirates.

Sara Emerich pitched a complete game for the win, scattering just 5 hits and 1 walk while striking out 6.

Riverside is now 5-4 on the season.

Bellefontaine split a doubleheader at Wapakoneta Saturday afternoon.

The Chiefs won the first game 7-2.

BHS scored six runs in the top of the sixth inning to take control.

Ace Kara Morrison struck out seven to earn the win.

Charity Chandler led the attack with two hits and two RBI's.

Taylor Manahan recorded two hits and an RBI.

Justine Peterson added a triple.

The Redskins won the second game 10-0 in five innings.

The Chiefs were held to three hits.

Justine Peterson suffered the loss.

Coach Vigansky's team is 8-4 overall and 4-2 in the CBC.

You can hear Bellefontaine host Dayton Stebbins Monday at five o'clock on 1390 WBLL.

The Benjamin Logan freshman softball team lost 2-1 against the West Liberty-Salem JV team Saturday.

The second game was tied 1-1 when it was called because of lightning and rain.
