As featured on 1390 WBLL, the Bellefontaine varsity softball team rallied past Dayton Stebbins 2-1 at Blue Jacket Park. The Chiefs had several scoring chances, but were held scoreless until the sixth inning. Heather Alinson came through with an RBI hit to drive in Charity Chandler. During that same sequence, Alinson was able to score thanks to a couple of throwing errors. (Audio interview included.) Chieftain ace Kara Morrison went the distance and recorded seven strikeouts. The West Liberty-Salem varsity softball team blanked Greeneview 10-0. The Lady Tigers are 15-0 overall and 9-0 in the OHC. The Indian Lake varsity softball team defeated rival Benjamin Logan 7-0. Jill Wildermuth tossed a complete game two-hitter and recorded eight strikeouts. Julianne Minnich powered the Lakers attack with a single, an over-the-fence home run, and two RBI's. Kerstin Harmon had a double and three RBI's. Michelle Herren, Chelsea Cramer, and Wildermuth added two hits apiece. Indian Lake is 11-2 overall and 6-1 in the CBC. Coach Cramer's team will host Benjamin Logan today. Riverside dropped a 3-0 decision against rival Fairbanks. Sara Emerich struck out eleven. The Pirates are 5-5 overall and 3-1 in the NWCC. The Benjamin Logan freshman softball team beat host Licking Heights 5-1. Haylee Goodrich struck out eight. Chelsea Cox had two hits to lead the offense. Allissa Allford had a double. Dakota Plikerd, Cheyanne Kuhn, Jessica Davia, Cierra Fields, and Haylee Brewer each added a hit. The Raiders are 4-5 overall. The Indian Lake 8th grade fastpitch team handled Lima Sr. 17-6. Spencer Minnich earned the win. Taylor Drake was 4-4 with a triple and Taylor Hakes belted a double and a home run. The Chiefs scored the winning run on a double steal by T.J. Garman and Zach Mosbarger. Josh Kauffman and Tyler Kramer turned a key double play late in the game to spark the defense. Bellefontaine is 7-2 overall and 5-2 in the CBC. The Benjamin Logan varsity baseball team edged Indian Lake 1-0 in nine innings. Both teams received dominant pitching performances. Laker standouts Kendall Lewis and Michael Morgan combined for sixteen strikeouts. Raider hurlers Jeremiah Kerns and Lee Kerns combined for thirteen strikeouts. Jonathon Robson smacked a two-out double in the bottom of the ninth inning to drive in Jeremiah Kerns. Kerns walked and then stole second before Robson came through. Lee Kerns earned the win. Morgan suffered the loss. Benjamin Logan is 7-6 and Indian Lake is 7-4. The Lakers host the Raiders today. The JV Chiefs lost 6-4 at Dayton Stebbins. Derrick Schmidt had a pair of doubles and Brant Fields had two hits and scored two runs. Bellefontaine is 6-4 overall. The West Liberty-Salem JV team defeated Greeneview 7-5. Collin Link led the attack with three hits and an RBI. Cody Allen had two hits and two RBI's. T.R. Nisonger recorded two hits. Brad Frantz, Logan Conklin, and Patrick McMaken added hits. Sean King recorded an RBI. Ryan Ropp earned the win. The Tigers are 4-3, 4-1. |
