The board passed a resolution recognizing the valuable contribution their volunteers provide throughout all programs. The board honored over 40 volunteers that help to boost services at the Discovery Center and the RTC program. Board members are also volunteers appointed by the Logan County Family Probate Judge and the Logan County Commissioners. The board members were presented a Certificate of Appreciation by the Ohio Association of County Boards at the board meeting. Various events are taking place this month to honor volunteers. In personnel matters, the board filled several vacancies in March. Krista Oldiges and Jennifer Puckett, part-time Habilitation Specialists, and Heather Snipes, Vocational Support Specialist, were introduced to the board. Board member Angelia Parsons gave a brief update on the Community Art Show and Auction sponsored by Families Touched by Autism on April 3rd. Artwork by students and local artists donated articles for the fundraiser. Students were presented awards for their artwork. The auction raised $2,600 this year, which will benefit Families Touched by Autism. Superintendent Dr. Joe Mancuso lauded the Discovery Center Preschool Spring Program entitled "Down on the Farm". There was standing room at the Bellefontaine High School Auditorium for the April 10th program. The Logan County Board of MRDD Auxiliary committee announced its annual geranium sale. They are currently taking orders for geraniums through May 2nd. Available colors are red, pink, salmon, fuchsia, and white at a cost $16 for 6 single geraniums of the same color. Flowers can be picked up on May 9th at the Discovery Center from 9-6. For more information or to place an order, call 592-2009. Checks should be made out to LCBMRDD Auxiliary Committee. The next board meeting is May 15th at 5:30 p.m. in the board conference room. |
