Tigers, Vogel shine in Junior High Track PDF Print E-mail

tiger_logo_on_10-07.jpgWest Liberty-Salem hosted the Champaign County Junior High Track and Field meet on Tuesday night.

The host Lady Tigers won the girls team competition with 132.5 points outdistancing second place Urbana with 96.5 points. Graham was 3rd with 45 points, 4th Mechanicsburg 22, and 5th Triad 16.

The Lady Tigers were led by first place finishes from Alyssa Neff in the 100 and 200 meter dashes and Meghan Vogel in the 1600 and 800 meter runs. Vogel's time of 5:47.6 in the 1600 broke the county record of 5:57 set by West Liberty-Salem's Amanda Hayes in 1999.

Other first place finishes for WLS were provided by Addie Kendall, shot put, Katie Evans, discus, Janelle VanHorn, high jump, and Melany Ward in the 200 meter hurdles. All three relay teams also placed first including the 4x100 team of Maria Daulton, Neff, Andrea Markin, and Ward, the 4x200 relay team of Ward, Brenna Hayes, Alandra Cox, and Daulton and the 4x400 relay team of Alexis Smith, Addie Hartsel, VanHorn, and Vogel.

For Urbana, Kaley Moss set a meet record in the pole vault with a vault of 8'0.

The Urbana Hillclimbers won the boys meet with 109 points followed by second place West Liberty-Salem 87, 3rd Graham 64, 4th Triad 29, and 5th Mechanicsburg 23.

For the Tigers, Zach Konkle placed first in the 110 and 200 meter hurdles and Ryan Meister placed first in the 1600 and 800 meter runs. Greg White also placed first in the long jump.

The Tigers are back in action Thursday at Northeastern and host the Jr. High BOSS Invitational on Saturday starting at 1:00 p.m.
