Two local high school students were awarded scholarships Thursday evening at the annual Ohio State Logan County Alumni Scholarship Banquet.

Amanda Hill of Indian Lake, who will be attending the Lima Campus along with Andy Bennett of Benjamin Logan, who will be attending the Marion Campus, both were presented a $600 tuition scholarship.

The guest speaker for the event was "Woody Hayes," also known as Roger Thomas of Tipp City. (Video interviews included.)

Mr. Thomas spoke about Woody Hayes and his efforts on behalf of education. He spoke of the importance of "paying forward," such as providing scholarship opportunities.

Also in attendence was "Buckeyeman," Larry Lokai, an Ohio State graduate from Urbana. Lokai planted the seed with the alumni group of sponsoring a "Freshman send off" for Logan County students who will be attending OSU.
