Snow blankets State Route 540 on March 7th.
President Bush has declared a state of emergency in Ohio because of the record amount of snow that covered much of the state from March 7th to March 9th.

The White House says Bush declared the emergency Thursday and ordered federal aid be made available to 17 counties, including two in West Central Ohio.

Cost-sharing funds are available to state and local governments in Union, Hardin, Delaware, Franklin, Ashtabula, Brown, Clermont, Clinton, Crawford, Fairfield, Geauga, Greene, Huron, Lake, Morrow, Richland, and Wyandot counties.

The funds are to help with the costs of emergency protective measures used at the time of the snowfall.

Although Logan County was not part of the declaration, our area was hit with over twelve inches of snow and a Level 2 Snow Emergency was issued.

Many local businesses were forced to close on March 8th.
