The Bulldogs were sparked by a grand slam in the top of the 3rd inning to beat the Chiefs 6-5. Bellefontaine scored 2 runs in the bottom of the first and 1 in the bottom of the second, appearing to be on there way to another victory before Bulldog second baseman Kyle Sacha hit the grand slam. Sacha went 3-4 on the game. Josh Kauffman got the loss for the Chiefs, despite going the distance. Kauffman struck out 6 and allowing 7 hits. 3 of the runs he allowed were unearned. The Chiefs committed 3 errors during the game. Bellefontaine was led offensively by Zach Mosbarger who went 2-2 with a HR, single, walk and sacrifice. Brock Mitchell went 2-4 with 2 RBI. The Chiefs had runners on first and second with one out in the seventh inning, but were unable to score. Mitchell went down swinging to end the game. BHS won decisively in game 2 by a score of 12-2.The Chieftains are now 9-4 on the season. Bellefontaine plays Springfield Shawnee next in a home and away series on Monday and Tuesday. You can hear Monday's game on 1390 WBLL beginning at 5:00 p.m. Indian Lake swept a doubleheader from Jackson Center on Saturday. The Lakers won game one 11-1 and game two 15-4. Indian Lake is now 11-4 and will be at home Monday against Urbana. Game time is 5:00 p.m. |
