Vogel, Dunn named MVP's at BOSS Jr. High meet PDF Print E-mail

tiger_logo_on_10-07.jpgThe West Liberty-Salem girls jr. high track and field team remained undefeated on the season, winning the BOSS Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Tiger Stadium, while Anna took home the boys title.

The Big Orange Shoe Shop meet MVP's went to Meghan Vogel of WLS and Aaron Dunn of Bellefontaine.

Following the Tiger's winning score of 136.5 was Benjamin Logan 2nd (69), Indian Lake 3rd (65), Bellefontaine 4th (61.5), Mechanicsburg 5th (53), Anna 6th (52), Triad 7th (16), and Bethel 8th (12).

Meghan Vogel led the Lady Tigers with first place finishes in the 1600 and 800 meter runs.  Vogel's time of 5:37.62 set a school, meet and stadium record.  Other first place finishes were provided by Alexis Smith in the 100 meter hurdles, Alyssa Neff in the 200 meter dash and Melany Ward in the 200 meter hurdles with a meet record time of 32.25.  The 4x100 meter relay team of Maria Daulton, Neff, Andrea Markin and Ward and the 4x200 meter relay team of Ward, Savannah Ship, Brenna Hayes and Daulton also placed first.

On the boys side Anna was first with 125.33 points, followed by Bellefontaine 2nd (94), WLS 3rd (86.33), Benjamin Logan 4th (75.33), Indian Lake 5th (33), Mechanicsburg 6th (27), Triad 7th (21), and Bethel 8th (1). 

The Tigers were led by Zach Konkle who place first in the 200 meter hurdles and 2nd in the 110 meter hurdles.

The Lady Lakers were led by the winning efforts of Ashley Collins in the long jump and 400 meter dash, Makenzie Taylor in the 100 meter dash, and the 4 x 400 meter relay team of Jessica Green, Taylor, Ashley Albright, and Collins.

Also placing for the Lady Lakers were:

Taylor Huffman:  5th in shot put (23' )

Ashley Albright:  5th in 1600 (6:21), 4th in 800 meter run (2:47)

Kayla Beltz:  6th in 1600 (6:21)

Jessica Green:  2nd in 200 meter dash (30.6)

The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Megan Thomas, Erika Kysenceder, Katie Ray, Jessica Green finished 3rd with a time of 58.7.

The 4 x 200 meter relay team of Megan Thomas, Jaime Shouse, Trista Helmlinger, Katie Ray finished 5th with a time of 1:09.

The  Indian Lake boys track team was paced by Shylar McIntire. He took first in the pole vault, setting a meet and stadium record of 10 feet six inches and finished 1st in the 800 meter run and 6th in the 110 hurdles.

Tanner Hinkle finished 4th in the long jump and 200 meter hurdles

Scoring for Benjamin Logan Middle School Girls were as follows: 

Marissa Wilbur was 2nd in the 100m hurdles

Ciarra Wirick was 6th in the 100m dash

Courtney Forsythe was 2nd in the 1600m run

The 4x100m relay team of Kelsey Rice, Logan Dunn, Monica Mannings and Brandi Young was 5th

Marissa Wilbur was 4th in the 200m hurdles

Courtney Forsythe was 5th in the 800m run

Ciarra Wirick was 3rd in the 400m dash

Kirsten Milton was 4th in the 400m dash

Amber Hites was 6th in the discus

Caitlin Craig was 5th in the discus

Kelsey Rice was 3rd in the high jump

Alexa Coughlin was 2nd in the high jump

Madison Leis tied for 3rd in the pole vault

Kirsten Milton was 5th in the pole vault

The 4x200m relay team of Monica Mannings, Ciarra Wirick, Madison Leis and Brandi Young finished 4th.

And the 4x400m relay team of Kirsten Milton, Alexa Coughlin, Marissa Wilbur and Courtney Forsythe finished 3rd.

The Benjamin Logan junior high boys team did very well in multiple events.

Placing first for the team were the 4x400 relay team consisting of Caleb Titus, Eric Olson, Dustin Bowers, and Quint Terry in a time of 4:05 and Quint Terry in the 400 dash in a time of 58.26.

Placing second for the team were Eric Olson in the high jump with a height of 4'10", and Caleb Titus in the 200 hurdles with a time of 28.84.

Placing third for the team were Quint Terry in the long jump with a distance of 16'4", Dylan McGarry in the pole vault with a height of 8', Caleb Titus in the 100 dash in a time of 13.1, the 4x100 relay consisting of Landon Brown, Casey Greavu, Trevor Newland, and Matt Wilt in a time of 55.4, and the 4x200 relay consisting of Trevor Newland, Casey Greavu, Bryan Newland, and Matt Wilt in a time of 1:55.

Finishing fourth was Eric Olson in the 110 hurdles in a time of 19.6.

Placing fifth was Austin Ramge in the discus with a throw of 95'3".

Placing sixth were Dustin Bowers in the shot put with a distance of 34'1", Blaine Ricketts in the 1600 in a time of 5:46, Patrick Graber in the 400 dash in a time of 1:05, and Patrick Graber in the 800 in a time of 2:36.

The team will be back in action on Thursday at the Graham Invitational.

The Bellefontaine Middle School boys team had several placers, too.
