Many of our local baseball and softball teams were in action before the rain arrived last night.
As featured on 1390 WBLL, the Bellefontaine varsity baseball team ran past Springfield Shawnee 11-4 at Blue Jacket Park.
The Chiefs scored six runs in the bottom of the third inning to take control. Senior Cody Mehl had three RBI's and Brock Mitchell blasted a home run.
Sophomore Brandon Winter went the distance to earn the win.
BHS is 10-4 overall and 7-3 in the CBC.
The Benjamin Logan varsity baseball team dominated Greenon 9-0.
Junior standout Jeremiah Kerns fired a no-hitter and recorded ten strikeouts.
The game was called after five innings because of rain.
Lee Kerns and Texas McCoy each blasted a triple.
Jeremiah Kerns added a double.
Gage Cochran had a key two-run single in the fifth inning.
The Raiders are 9-7 overall and 6-4 in the CBC.
The Knights are 4-13 overall and 2-8 in the CBC.
Varsity softball finals:
Bellefontaine defeated Springfield Shawnee 11-1 in five innings.
Ace Kara Morrison fired a two-hitter.
At the plate, Morrison had two hits and scored three runs.
Kelanie Garman had two hits and five RBI's.
Justine Peterson added two hits and an RBI.
The Chiefs are 12-6 overall and 6-4 in league play.
Indian Lake edged Urbana 1-0.
Junior Jill Wildermuth was outstanding again. She tossed a four-hitter and struck out eight.
Becca Cooper led the Lakers attack with a double.
Kerstin Harmon, Michelle Herren, and Jessica Lininger added singles.
Indian Lake is 15-3 overall and 8-2 in the CBC.

Riverside defeated Ridgemont 20-0 in five innings.

Alex Crawford, Sammi Coil, and Serena Foor each had two RBI's.
Shelby Gilroy, Lindsay Harmon, and Ali Pitchford had one RBI apiece.
8th grade fastpitch:
Indian Lake lost 9-3 against Elida.
Maci Jones suffered the loss.
Kayla Thieman had a triple. Taylor Drake and Taylor Hakes each added a single. |
