The West Liberty-Salem boys and girls track and field teams swept the Champaign County meet at Urbana on Tuesday evening.
Boys Team Scores: 1st WLS 92, 2nd Urbana 87, 3rd Mechanicsburg 78, 4th Graham 72, 5th Triad 22 The Tigers were powered by first place finishes from Eric Salley in the 400 meter dash, Lance Kitchen in the 300 meter hurdles, Brice Baumgardner in long jump, Justus Murphy in pole vault and the 4x400 relay team of Jake Anderson, Baumgardner, Salley and Kitchen. Placing second for the Tigers were Seth Baker in the 800 meter run, Nate Bratka in the discus, Daniel Wirick in the 200 meter dash and the 4x800 relay team of Baker, Matt Vogel, Brandon Shively and Salley. Girls Team Scores: 1st WLS 115.5, 2nd (tie) Graham and Urbana 82, 4th Triad 41, 5th Mechanicsburg 25.5 First place finishers for the Lady Tigers were provided by Hannah Ropp in pole vault, Courtney Karg in the 400 meter dash, Hillary Seely in the 3200 meter run, the 4x800 relay team of Karg, Kelsie Markin, Seely and Christine Naderer and the 4x400 relay team of Heather Bumbalough, Hannah Hartsel, Kaycee Daniels and Karg. Second place finishes included Bumbalough in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles, Michelle Mack in the 200 meter dash, Sara Naderer in the high jump, Kelsie Markin the the pole vault and the 4x200 relay team of Emily Evans,Daniels, Hartsel and Mack. The Tigers are back at Urbana on Saturday for the Urbana Invitational. The Logan County track meet was held at Benjamin Logan last night. Indian Lake won the girls meet with 92 points. Bellefontaine followed with 76. Benjamin Logan had 66 points and Riverside tallied 22 points. Sara Bechtel won the pole vault by clearing 9 feet. Kea Lewis won the long jump (15'8") and the 200 meter dash (28.40). For Indian Lake: Aubrey Gardner won the 1600 meter run (6:08). Sarah Bell won the 3200 meter run (13:58). For Benjamin Logan: Lauren Anderson won the 300 meter hurdles (48.30). Keri Stafford took first in the 100 meter dash (13.30). For Riverside: Amelia Carter won the shot put (35'8") and the discus (122'10"). |
