The future of the Miami River Improvement Project will be discussed at a special Joint Board of Commissioners meeting next week.

Logan County Commissioner John Bayliss has requested the board to meet next Tuesday at three o'clock at the Logan County Engineer's Highway Garage meeting room.

The joint board includes commissioners from Logan, Hardin, Auglaize, Shelby, and Champaign Counties.

The project has been criticized by local residents after a referendum issue was defeated in Logan County last November.

Many residents are upset over the $25 per parcel assessment fee and the annual $2.50 maintenance fee.

In March, the joint board voted to move forward with the project.

Local commissioners Bayliss and Reser issued "no" votes at that meeting.
