As featured on 1390 WBLL, Bellefontaine defeated Graham 9-3 in varsity softball at Blue Jacket Park. The game was tight until the Chiefs exploded for five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a commanding 8-2 lead. Kara Morrison went the distance to earn the win. (Audio interview included.) Tiffany LeVan powered the offense with two hits and three RBI's, including a two-run triple in the fifth inning. Justine Peterson added two hits. The Chiefs took advantage of ten walks. For Graham, Megan Anderson, Chelsea Black, and Mariah Fowler each belted a triple. Bellefontaine is 13-7 overall and 7-5 in the CBC. Graham is 5-13, 3-8. Both teams have the weekend off. Bellefontaine will visit Kenton Ridge on Monday. Graham will host Benjamin Logan on Monday. Listen to BHS head coach Jeremiah Vigansky recap the win. Other varsity softball finals: Indian Lake beat host Kenton Ridge 3-1. Jill Wildermuth pitched a complete game three-hitter. Alain Pummell was 2-3 with a double and scored two runs. Jessica Lininger and Michelle Herren each had a single and an RBI. Chelsea Cramer and Chelsea Hoyles added hits. The Lakers are 17-3 overall and 10-2 in the CBC. Riverside steamrolled Sidney Christian Academy 26-2. Megan Hurley led the attack with five hits. Abby Heaberlin had four hits and six RBI's. Sara Emerich, Ashley Jones, Lindsey Stevens, and Brittany Shough had three hits apiece. Erica Snapp smacked a home run. The Pirates are 10-7 overall. Benjamin Logan defeated host Dayton Stebbins 4-1. The Raiders will play a doubleheader at Milton-Union tomorrow. Ridgemont edged Waynesfield-Goshen 5-4. The Gophers rallied by scoring four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. For the Tigers, freshman standout Shelby Gilroy had a double and an out-of-the park home run. JV softball: Benjamin Logan handled Dayton Stebbins 18-1. Ace Lauren Bycynski fired a two-hitter. The Raiders collected 21 hits. Caroline Lehman went 3-4 with two home runs and six RBI's. Deanna Dill recorded two home runs and four RBI's. Jewel Guthrie was 4-4. Brooke Erwin had three hits and two RBI's. Bycynski added a home run. Benjamin Logan is 13-1 overall and 10-0 in league play. Varsity baseball: Bellefontaine fell to Graham 5-2. The Chiefs are 10-6 overall and 7-5 in the CBC. Indian Lake lost at Kenton Ridge 12-6. The Cougars scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a 6-6 tie. For the Lakers, seniors Kendall Lewis and Michael Morgan each had two hits and three RBI's. Derek Welch added a double. Indian Lake is 11-7 overall and 5-6 in the CBC. JV baseball: Bellefontaine outscored Graham 14-4. Austen Pulfer was the winning pitcher. Colt Scherer, Greg Huffman, and Michael Stockton had two hits apiece. Freshman baseball: Benjamin Logan lost 6-4 vs. Tipp City. For the Raiders, TJ Rose pitched well. Landon McKirahan had two hits and scored a run. 8th grade baseball: Indian Lake ran past Ottawa-Glandorf 12-1 in six innings. Jonathon Schulz was 2-2 with a triple. Travis Francis had three hits and Dillon Johnston added two hits. The Lakers are 9-3. |
