It didn't take long for law enforcement to solve a theft at Gas America in Anna early this morning.
Around 3:20 a.m., the Shelby County Sheriff's Office responded to a call at the gas station on East Main Street, near I-75.
A patron reported the attendant was possibly missing and the business was locked. However, the gas station is a 24-hour a day business. With the assistance of the store manager, deputies were able to enter the store. The attendant was not found inside, but store surveillance cameras revealed that Jessica Rhine, 20, of Anna opened the store safe and took $900 cash and then took cash from the register. A total of $1,381 cash was taken from the business.
The surveillance tape showed Rhine leaving the gas station.
Deputies received a tip that Rhine may have boarded a bus to head to California. Dayton Police were notified and shortly after five a.m. Rhine was arrested at the Greyhound Bus Terminal. Police were able to recover the cash, too.
Rhine was lodged in the Montgomery County Jail pending an extradition hearing.
In Shelby County, she faces felony charges of theft and safecracking. The sheriff's office continues to investigate the incident. |
