Host Will Zell and Hale talked about many improvements that the agency has made over the last year and a new service that will start later this month. Hale was proud to report on the success of the Lakeview Recycling Center, which opened just over a year ago. The 24-hour self serve center has enabled our area to recycle several thousand tons of trash. (Audio interview included.) A similar center at Moundwood opened on Earth Day - April 22nd. The solid waste district has hosted a household hazardous waste day for the last several years. This year, that is being set aside for a new, faster service. Hale said the county will offer several opportunities for residents to unload unwanted items from their home, garage, or barn. The solid waste district would like to see Logan County become a "zero waste" county by 2020. You can see more information at http://www.logancountyrecycles.com/. "Zell on the Bell" airs every Friday morning at nine on 1390 WBLL. Next week's guest will be State Representative Tony Core. |
