BL baseball wins again, Lakers and Pirates roll in softball Print E-mail

As featured on 1390 WBLL, the Bellefontaine varsity baseball team used strong pitching and timely hitting to beat rival Kenton Ridge 5-3.

Sophomore Brandon Winter went six plus innings to earn the win.

Nolan Hunt earned the save by working out of a bases loaded jam in the seventh inning.

T.J. Garman paced the offense with three singles.

Bellefontaine is 11-7, 8-6 and Kenton Ridge is 14-5.

Other varsity baseball:

Benjamin Logan stayed red hot and defeated Graham 10-2 to complete the season sweep.

Lee Kerns struck out seven in the win.

Logan Conley, Trent Kuhn, and Kerns each belted a home run.

Conley finished the night with four RBI's.

Jonathon Robson added two hits.

The Raiders are 13-7 overall and 10-4 in the CBC.

JV baseball:

Bellefontaine edged host Kenton Ridge 4-3 in eight innings.

Colt Scherer had three hits and the go ahead RBI single in the top of the eighth.

Scherer earned the win in relief of starter Wayce Varian.

The Chiefs are 12-5 overall.

Freshman baseball:

Benjamin Logan handled West Liberty-Salem 17-4.

Colt Stover pitched a complete game for the Raiders.

John Mobley and Artie Zell both went 2-2.

8th grade baseball:

Indian Lake drubbed Lima Sr. 21-6.

Travis Francis led the winners with five hits.

Trevor Jacobs, Ben Frey, Jonathon Schulz, Dillon Johnston, and Tyler McCullough had three hits apiece.

Zach Maier, Zachary Johnson, and Doug Zachariah each delivered a pair of hits.

Varsity softball:

Kenton Ridge blanked Bellefontaine 5-0.

The Chiefs are 14-8 overall.

Benjamin Logan fell to Graham 4-3 in eight innings.

Indian Lake shutout Greenon 10-0 in six innings.

Ace Jill Wildermuth fired a one-hitter.

Jessica Lininger and Julianne Minnich each belted a double.

Michelle Herren, Chelsea Cramer, Alain Pummell, Chelsey Hoyles, and Becca Cooper had singles.

The Lakers are 19-3, 12-2.

Riverside handled Fairlawn 10-0.

Sara Emerich fired a three-hitter and struck out eight.

Abby Heaberlin and Megan Hurley had two hits apiece.

The Pirates are 12-7.

8th grade fastpitch:

Indian Lake defeated Kenton 12-1.

Spencer Minnich and Kayla Thieman combined for six strikeouts and only allowed two hits.

Taylor Hakes and Gabby Hoying were 2-3.

Allison Allen and Minnich doubled.

Thieman had a home run.

7th grade fastpitch:

Indian Lake fell to Marion.

Andi Lee and Leslie Reichert each ripped a double.

Reichert struck out seven.
