The Ohio EPA will hold an information session and hearing at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21st to accept comments regarding a request to expand Cherokee Run Landfill by 2.04 million cubic yards.

The facility is located on Route 68 approximately two miles north of Bellefontaine.

The additional waste would be placed on top of existing disposal areas. At the currently permitted rate of no more than 4,500 tons daily, the expansion would add an estimated 2.3 years to the life of the landfill.

The meeting will be held in the Bellefontaine Regional Airport conference room at 3100 State Route 47 West.

EPA staff will present the company's proposal and explain how the application will be processed, what Ohio EPA considers as part of its review, and how you may get involved.
