The students were ready for free ice cream

It was a day of celebration at Western Intermediate Tuesday.  The Bellefontaine 4th & 5th graders were treated to an inflatable outdoor playground with music and after lunch local leaders served the kids ice cream for dessert.

Five students rode home from school on a brand new bicycle thanks to Mrs. Bishop who has been giving away free bikes for years at the school.  Mrs. Bishop is now a retired cafeteria employee who served the Western Elementary and she continues to serve the children of Bellefontaine City Schools.

Every students name was entered in to the drawing for a free bicycle.  During the lunch the winners names were announced.

One young girl by the name of Maddie Norris had her name drawn and politely declined as she already has a bike allowing someone else to win.

Other bike winners were Michael Stalk, McKenzie Leonard, Wesley McClain and Aurellio Vickers.

Local community leaders served the kids ice cream with all the toppings.  Lt. Andy Smith of the Sheriff's Office and Judge Chamberlain were on ice cream scooping duty while Mayor Brannon and Fire Prevention Officer Russ Foust took care of toppings and WPKO & WBLL's Chad Wilkinson topped it off with cherries.  The ice cream day at Western was made possible by Mrs. Bishop and many parents and volunteers.  A big thanks goes out to all of them!
