west-liberty-salem-district.gifIt's district title Saturday for many high school baseball and softball teams around the state.

West Liberty-Salem's Emily Kauffman did it with her arm and bat Saturday against Blanchester.

Kauffman pitched another gem on the mound and drove in the game's only run with a two-out single in the top of the fourth inning in the Tigers 1-0 victory. (Audio interviews included)

Blanchester's Erika Lee was equally impressive on the mound as she tossed seven innings only allowing the one run and it was unearned.

West Liberty-Salem will now play Madeira Thursday afternoon at 5:00 at Wright State University.  Madeira beat Madison 4-2 Saturday afternoon.

As featured on 1390 WBLL, the West Liberty-Salem baseball team lost to Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy 2-0 in Centerville.

The Tigers had a few scoring opportunities, but could not get that key base hit against a very talented Eagles team.

Senior ace Levi Woodruff pitched another stellar game for the orange and black.

West Liberty-Salem had another great year under head coach Toby Smith.

They won the OHC title, won a sectional title, and went 24-6 this spring.

In the late game Saturday afternoon on 1390 WBLL Benjamin Logan fell to McNicholas 2-0.  Jeremiah Kerns pitched another great game for the Raiders, but was out dueled by the Rockets Paul Uhl.  Uhl only gave up one hit and walked one in his complete game shutout.

Kerns gave up two runs in six innings.  The big hit came in the bottom of the third inning when Luke Powers hit a one-out two run double to left for the games only runs.

After the game Raiders head coach Doug Rutan said his team has a lot to be proud of this year.  They started the season 7-7 and finished winning 12 out of their last 14 games while winning the league title for the second straight year and winning the Sectional.  The Raiders finish at 19-10.

Coach Rutan recaps the game and the Raiders season with Matt Strayer and Chad Wilkinson

On Friday, Triad won another district title in softball.

Cardinals ace Morgan Ryan tossed a perfect game in a 1-0 victory over Tri-Village in Division IV.
