As featured on 1390 WBLL, the Tigers defeated North Union 4-1 in the Division III regional title game at Wright State University. The Wildcats struck first with a run in the bottom of the second inning. WLS countered with a run in the top of the third frame. (Audio interviews and highlight included.) LISTEN TO THE ENTIRE GAME IN THIS STORY The Tigers then took control of the game in the top of the fourth inning. Once again it was the #9 hitter Sami Konkle leading the charge. Sami stepped up with two outs and roped an RBI double which broke the 1-1 tie. Then the top of the order followed with back-to-back RBI hits with Abbey Ledford's single and Devon Woodruff's triple. The Tigers led 4-1. That was more than enough for senior ace Emily Kauffman who scattered seven hits and went the distance to help West Liberty-Salem earn its first-ever state berth in softball. Kauffman talks with Chad Wilkinson after the game Catcher Haleigh Hickenbottom picked off two runners on base squashing potential rallies by North Union. Konkle led the hitting going 2 for 2 with a double, single, RBI, run scored and a sacrifice. Sami went 4 for 5 in the two Regional games with 2 RBI's and the game winner Thursday night. Brittany Mayse was 1 for 4 with a single and two runs scored while Devon Woodruff had an RBI triple.
