The Logan County Electric Cooperative Community Connection Fund (Operation Round Up) has awarded grants totaling $5,000 to three local organizations.

The Trustees approved the following projects to receive funding:

 - The new Logan County Homeless Shelter received $2,000 to help repair the building.

 - Logan County Family and Children First Council received $2,000 for a summer program for autistic children.

 - The United Presbyterian Church in Bellefontaine received $1,000 for their new once-a-month meals for low income families.

Six applications were received totaling over $14,500, but the fund had little more than $5,000 available.

Members of the Logan County Electric Cooperative give funds to the Community Connection Fund when they "round up" their electric bill to the next whole dollar. Donations average around $6 per year per member and over 90 percent of the cooperative's members participate. Since the program began in 1999 over $235,000 has been awarded to groups and a few individuals living in Logan County.

The next application deadline is Friday, August 8th. Applications are available at the cooperative office at 1587 CR 32 North, Bellefontaine or by calling 592-4781.
