Here is what the Champaign Landmark Thackery branch looked like prior to the explosion.
There was an explosion inside a grain silo at the Champaign Landmark branch near Thackery shortly after eight o'clock Monday morning.

The blast did extensive damage to the maintenance building on the towers and caused officials to close State Route 55 for several hours.

No one was injured.

The Christiansburg Fire Department is not sure what caused the explosion.

The grain bins held about 400,000 bushels of corn.

Six roofs on the bins were collapsed and two others were moved.

Authorities are still working on a damage estimate.

The Champaign County Sheriff's Office and the Marysville Post of the State Highway Patrol assisted at the scene.

Route 55 re-opened Tuesday morning at one o'clock.

Thackery is southwest of Urbana.
