The Benjamin Logan Acme team earned a split on Saturday. The Raiders breezed past Fort Recovery 10-0 in five innings. Dustin Craig fired a one-hitter and recorded twelve strikeouts. Trent Kuhn led the offense with two hits. Every starter had at least one hit (Matt McKirahan, Donnie Stover, Blake Rodenberger, Artie Fields, Tyler Easter, Dustin Craig, Jacob Barns, Logan Coleman, and Michael Cox). In the second game, Benjamin Logan lost to Celina 12-6. Matt McKirahan, Trent Kuhn, and Artie Fields had two hits apiece. Michael Cox and Jacob Barns added hits. Benjamin Logan is 6-1. The Raiders will visit Urbana tonight. The Benjamin Logan Junior Acme team split a doubleheader vs. Graham on Saturday. The Raiders won the first game 5-4. Caleb Titus threw a five-hitter and struck out seven. T.J. Rose and Zak Wirick each had two hits. Despite a great comeback, Benjamin Logan lost the second game 5-4 in extra innings. The Raiders scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning with two outs to tie the game. Zak Wirick took the loss. He scattered seven hits and recorded seven strikeouts. Caleb Titus and Wirick had two hits apiece. Benjamin Logan is 3-2. Isaac Miller, Zane Collins, and Luke Donohoe helped spur the Union Post 79ers Under 11 baseball team to the Father's Day USSSA NIT baseball championship in Upper Arlington. In pool play they beat the Licking County Magic 12-1, Upper Arlington 5-4, and the Gahanna Dragons 11-3. In the semifinals they beat the Dublin Green Sox 12-4 and in the championship round Upper Arlington 8-1. After this weekend, their overall record is 29-7. Miller, Collins, and Donohue had outstanding games. The Union Post team is back in action Thursday in Bowling Green at the USSSA state tournament. In 16U Softball, the Indian Lake Lady Hurricanes won the DeGraff Paige Harshbarger Memorial Tournament. In five games, they outscored their opponents 68-7. They defeated Logan County Rage 13-3, DeGraff Creamery 10-0, and Southern Express 16-0 on Saturday. On Sunday, the Hurricanes handled DeGraff Creamery 15-0 in the semifinals and then defeated Southern Express 14-4 in the championship game. Pitchers Kerstin Harmon, Jenna Jordan, and Caitlin Jordan threw well. Lauren Bycynski, Kayla Thieman, Harmon, Brittany Golliday, and Caitlin Jordan led the offense. Here are individual game highlights: Against the Rage, Lauren Bycynski went 2-2 with a triple, India Slayback hit a double, and Kayla Thieman and Caitlin Jordan went 2-3. Kerstin Harmon had the win on the mound with 7 strikeouts. Against DeGraff Creamery, Thieman went 2-3 with a home run, Bycynski went 2-4 with a double, and Brittany Golliday went 2-3. Jenna Jordan had 10 strikeouts. Against Express, India Slayback and Taylor Manahan tripled. Thieman (3-3), Caitlin Jordan (3-3), Golliday (2-3), and Bycynski (2-3) doubled. Harmon and Krista Young went 2-3. Caitlin Jordan had 5 strikeouts on the mound. In the semifinals, Harmon went 3-3 with a home run and a triple, Golliday belted a triple, Bycynski and Caitlin Jordan went 2-3. Jenna Jordan and Thieman went 2-2. In the championship game, Bycynski went 4-4 with a triple and 2 doubles and Krista Young went 3-3. Thieman, Harmon, Golliday, and Jenna Jordan added doubles. Huntsville #2 Fire/EMS defeated Quincy #2 26-14 Saturday afternoon in Tee Ball action. Dustin Franks led Huntsville with a home run and three doubles. McKenzee Lewis and Derek Cline each recorded four hits. Coaches say the entire team played great defense. |
