A Lakeview man was arrested on several counts following a pursuit near Indian Lake early Sunday morning.

The Logan County Sheriff's Office stopped Troy Oakley, 43, on State Route 235 north of Route 33 just after one o'clock.

The deputy said he had to swerve to avoid being hit by Oakley's oncoming Ford Taurus.

When asked if he had been drinking, Oakley said "yes".

The officer explained why he stopped Oakley and then asked him to step out of the car to perform some sobriety tests.

Oakley then said, "I got to go".

A pursuit then ensued throughout Lakeview and into the northwestern part of the county.

Authorities say that Oakley was finally stopped on State Route 720 near County Road 54.

He was removed from his car and charged with OVI, driving under suspension, fleeing and eluding, reckless operation, and left of center.

Oakley told deputies that he took off because he was scared of getting another OVI.

Oakley has been convicted of OVI five times.

The pursuit lasted less than fifteen minutes.

The State Highway Patrol assisted the sheriff's office.

Oakley was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
