Benjamin Logan Acme falls in extra innings Print E-mail

Several local baseball and softball teams were in action Monday night.

Finals included: 

The Benjamin Logan Acme team fell to Urbana 6-5 in nine innings.

Blake Rodenberger paced the Raiders with two hits, including a triple.

Matt McKirahan added a double.

The Raiders will battle Triad on Wednesday.

Garrett Pickering and Wayce Varian had three hits each and Daulton Mosbarger struck out eight batters to lead the Bellefontaine Junior Acme team to an 8-6 victory over Urbana at Blue Jacket Park.

Devon Warren had two hits for Bellefontaine, including a leadoff single in the bottom of the sixth inning with the score tied at six. He advanced to second, then stole third and scampered home with what proved to be the winning run when the catcher's throw went into left field. Conner Kellogg rounded out the Chieftain offense with a triple.

Mosbarger pitched a five-hit game to pick up the win on the mound. Pickering earned the save by working a scoreless seventh inning.

Bellefontaine visits Indian Lake for a 6 p.m. game Tuesday, then hosts London at 6 p.m. Wednesday and Lima Bath at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

New Bremen routed Indian Lake (Design Original) 12-2 in Junior Acme Monday night.

Travis Francis led the Lakers' offense. He went 2-for-3 with a double.

The Benjamin Logan Junior Acme team steamrolled Kenton 30-8.

Logan Coleman and Landon McKirahan teamed up for eight strikeouts.

Coleman blasted a three-run home run.

Josh Kuhn had two doubles.

Jon Mobley delivered a double and a triple.

McKirihan added a triple.

The Raiders are 4-2. 

FARM LEAGUE

West Liberty #2 (Nelson Insurance) routed Belle Center #1 12-2.

Zach Lowe was the winning pitcher. Dalton Randall struck out five and picked up the save.

Randall also led the offense. He went 3-for-3 with a triple and a double.

Gage Rudasill had a pair of doubles.

Dylan Leopard hit a home run.

Hayden Brinkman added a triple.

For Belle Center #1, Austin Vanbuskirk struck out five and added a hit.

Ridgemont #1 pounded Zanesfield #3 17-2.

Trenton Myers went 2-for-3 with a double for the winners.

Dillon Bricker also hit a double.

Dustin Howard, Wyatt Warren, Andrew Freshcorn, and Darian Bricker each added hits.

On the mound, Cole Wyatt, Dillon Bricker, and Myers combined for six strikeouts and only allowed three hits.

For Zanesfield #3, Grant Ward, Brandon Cole, and Dakota Dillon each had hits.

Dillon, Ward, and Brody Kenny combined for nine strikeouts.

Zanesfield #1 (Sports Plus) beat Huntsville #1 22-3 in a make-up game.

The pitchers for Zanesfield #1 combined for eight strikeouts.

Mitchell Fink belted two home runs, including a grand slam.

Jarred Abbott hit a triple to drive in two runs in the first inning to get the team started.

Clay Bibart added a double.

Cole Merritt led Huntsville #1 with a triple.

Zanesfield #1 (Sports Plus) then edged East Liberty/Middleburg 8-7.

Zanesfield's pitchers combined for 11 strikeouts.

T.J. Fink hit a double to lead the offense.

Jared Sater had a triple for East Liberty/Middleburg.

Huntsville (AcuSport) cruised past Quincy 18-2.

Tyler Reprogle led Huntsville's offense with a home run.

Alex Jacobs, Parker Grothaus, Caleb Smelcer, and Tyler Huffer added extra base hits.

Mitch Schwieterman and Kale Shoffner combined for four strikeouts in their first pitching appearances.

Huntsville (AcuSport) beat Lakeview #1 17-3.

For Huntsville, Parker Grothaus went 3-for-3 with a home run and a double.

Dylan Albright had a home run and five RBI's.

Alex Jacobs, Andrew Hulbert, and Zane Hakes added triples.

Tyler Reprogle picked up the win in what his coaches called a strong pitching performance.

He combined with Caleb Smelcer and Kyle Shoffner for nine strikeouts.

For Lakeview, Noah Bailey had a triple.

Ridgemont #2 slid by Lakeview #2 11-9.

Alex Ramsey, Cade McKinley, and Ricky Smith combined to strike out four over three innings. Jace McGue came in as a reliever. He struck out 11 of the 16 batters he faced.

Austin Buroker almost hit for the cycle, with a triple, a double and a single and three RBI's.

Devin McGraff hit a double and a single.

Ricke Smith and Xavier McGue had two singles each for Lakeview.

Dearwester had a triple and Beltz added two singles.

DeGraff #1 (United Midwest Savings Bank) defeated Belle Center #2 11-6.

Tyler Sanford, Trey Lane, Caleb Stevens, and Gavin Stallard combined for 12 strikeouts in the win.

Lane had three hits for DeGraff #1, Sanford had two hits, Stallard added a double, and Trey Helmlinger scored three runs.

Danny Elson and Curtis Hinkle had doubles for Belle Center #2.

DeGraff #2 (Comer Insurance) defeated Huntsville #3 11-6.

For DeGraff,  Conner Cotterman, Ross Stevens, Gauge Walters and Bill Walters combined for the win on the mound.

Bill Walters led the offense with a double, a triple, and two RBIs.

Cotterman was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI's, Ross Stevens was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI, and Lucas Roderick had a double and an RBI.

For Huntsville, Kage Watson had a hit and an RBI.

Michael Beale was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

West Liberty #1 (McDaniel's Auto Repair) defeated Rushsylvania 14-2.

Ben Hyland and Brandon Upton combined for 12 strikeouts and pitched a one-hitter.

Upton powered the offense going 2-for-2 with a double and a home run.

Cole McDaniel and Tanner Workman each doubled.

Hyland and Dusty Moell went 2-for-2.

Dominic Smith and Mason Woodruff added base hits.

For Rushsylvania, Jordan McQuire had a base hit.

Real Living beat Spectrum Painting 5-1 in tournament action.

For Real Living, Chase Braun, Chris Huffman, Noah Nicholl, and Zach Reames pitched well.

Isaac Newman had two hits and Taylor Turner doubled.

West Liberty #3 (Michael's Pizza) outscored Quincy 22-18.

For West Liberty, Logan Brown earned the win.

Cam Cozad had four hits and scored four runs.

Neil Markin went 4-4 and scored five times.

Adam Lament scored twice.

For Quincy, Sierra Corbin scored four runs and Mckayla Waugh scored a couple of runs. 

GIRLS SOFTBALL

SENIOR LEAGUE

Dairy Queen defeated Kut-N-Loose in the first game of the Bellefontaine youth girls tournament 8-4.

Haleigh Stafford pitched and had eight strikeouts to earn the win.

Carley Strzalka and Nala Smith both had hits and scored.

Haley Anderson drove in a run.

Butler's Spouting beat Village Builders 10-5.

Addie Brown had a triple and Amber Jones added a double.

Kinsey Harman was the winning pitcher.

JUNIOR LEAGUE

McDonald's defeated Masonic Temple 13-6 in the first round of the tournament.

Savannah Brison struck out ten in the win.

Elizabeth Martin, Jenna Vanhoose, and Macy Neff each blasted a home run.

Martin had six RBI's.

For Masonic Temple, Caitlyn Varian had a double and two RBI's.

Sierra Roberts drove in two runs.

12 and Under

West Liberty #2 (Big Orange Shoe Shop) edged DeGraff #2 7-6.

Kylee Hormann and Autumn Klinger combined for the win.

Klinger had two hits, including a home run.

April Kelly delivered the game-winning RBI.

Katie Lement, Aubrey Kabua, Hayden Erwin, and Hormann added singles.

10 and Under

DeGraff #1 (DeGraff Creamery) blanked Quincy 21-0.

For DeGraff, Ashley Armstrong went 2-2 with five RBI's.

Marissa Davis had two triples and two RBI's.

Helena Faulder ripped a double and drove in two runs.

Lauryn Davis, Alexa Klingler, and Kelby Strapp added singles.
