Scherer leads Chiefs, Beale homers twice in tourney win Print E-mail

Finals included:

Jr. Acme

Bellefontaine defeated host Lima Shawnee 4-1.

Cody Scherer tossed a complete game three-hitter to earn the win.

Michael Stockton paced the offense with two hits.

Bellefontaine will close out the home portion of its summer schedule when they host Benjamin Logan Wednesday at six p.m.

The Chiefs will visit Urbana Thursday evening.

Benjamin Logan fell to host London 7-1.

Caleb Titus and Zak Wirick each had two hits.

The Raiders played two games in Beavercreek over the weekend.

Benjamin Logan lost the first game 11-9.

Josh Kuhn and Dustin Bowers had three hits apiece.

Artie Zell added two hits.

In the second game, the Raiders won 7-5.

Caleb Titus was 2-for-2 with a home run.

Benjamin Logan visits Urbana tonight.

LITTLE LEAGUE (Tournament)

Zanesfield edged Bellefontaine #6 5-4 in eight innings.

Jordan Scales, Kyler Young, and Tristen Harshfield combined for eleven strikeouts in the win.

Young powered the offense with a home run.

Austin Ahle collected two hits.

East Liberty/Middleburg outscored Lakeview 13-7.

Eric Cook, Cody Rice, and Dalton Greene tallied nine K's in the victory.

Cook led the offense with two doubles and four RBI's.

Cody Rice, Dalton Greene, Josh Vinson, Kyle Ackley, and David Watson each had two hits.

Joel Spatz chipped in with a double and an RBI.

Josh Hardman drove in two runs and Ackley stole three bases.

FARM LEAGUE (Tournament)

Huntsville #3 outslugged Belle Center #1 20-13.

Huntsville pitchers Troy Carter, Austin Eaton, Michael Beale, and Kage Watson combined for ten strikeouts.

Beale had an outstanding game at the plate. He had two home runs, a triple, and four RBI's.

Trenton Butterfield recorded four hits and drove in two runs.

Austin Eaton had three hits and four RBI's.

Collin Wagoner added two hits and three RBI's.

West Liberty #2 beat Belle Center #2 9-4.

For West Liberty, Jayden Aldo, Zach Lowe, and Dylan Leopard pitched well.

Leopard was 3-for-3 with a double.

Ryan Kauffman collected two hits.

SOFTBALL (Tournament)

Jr. League

McDonald's nipped National City Bank 5-3.

Savannah Brison struck out twelve in the win.

Brison smacked a three-run homer and a double to lead the offense.

14U

Huntsville #2 (Maier Concrete) defeated Zanesfield 13-5 in the opening round of the tournament.

Claire Maier picked up the win and struck out ten.

Kaylyn Wright led the offense with two hits and four RBI's.

Amber May recorded two hits and two RBI's.

Trista Helmlinger, Kylee Smith, Haley Dye, and Maier drove in runs.
