Finals included: Acme Bellefontaine Powerbuilt blanked Vandalia-Butler 3-0 at Blue Jacket Park. Senior Brock Mitchell tossed a no-hitter and struck out four. Austen Pulfer led the offense with an RBI single. Powerbuilt is 19-5 overall. Coach Burrey's team is hosting Celina and Vandalia-Butler in a round robin tournament today. Bellefontaine will play Celina at eleven o'clock and Vandalia-Butler at four o'clock. Jr. Acme Benjamin Logan handled Kenton 7-0. Caleb Titus and Artie Zell combined for a one-hitter and struck out six. T.J. Rose and Zell each had a hit to power the offense. The Raiders are 8-4 and will play Dayton Stebbins next. SOFTBALL Senior League Butler's Spouting defeated Dairy Queen 12-6 to capture the title. Kinsey Harman was the winning pitcher. Amber Jones and Emma Earick doubled. Butler's Spouting went 9-1 this summer. 10U Zanesfield #1 (Donatos) knocked off Lakeview #1 (Indian Lake Moose Lodge) 9-6 in tournament action. Kate Campbell tossed a two-hitter and struck out thirteen in the win. Morgan Fultz and Campbell had two hits apiece. For Lakeview, standout Ashley Holycross recorded eleven strikeouts. Lindsey Young led the offense with two hits. FARM LEAGUE West Liberty #1 (McDaniel's Auto Repair) advanced to the championship game by winning back-to-back games Friday in Lakeview. In the first game, West Liberty defeated Zanesfield #1 7-4. Brandon Upton earned the win and Ben Hyland closed for the save. They combined for nine K's. Upton collected two hits. Tanner Workman doubled. Mason Woodruff and Hyland added base hits. For Zanesfield, Mitchell Fink was 3-for-3 with a double. In the second game, West Liberty #1 edged DeGraff #2 (Comer Insurance) 9-7. Cole McDaniel earned the win and struck out ten. Dusty Moell closed for the save. Brandon Upton paced the offense with two hits and four RBI's. Tanner Workman, Mason Woodruff, and McDaniel added hits. For DeGraff, Conner Cotterman went 3-for-3 with a triple. Ross Stevens recorded two hits, including a double. |
