Modified winner Mike Carroll
Shady Bowl Speedway got a reprieve from the rain and got in a great night of racing Saturday.

A field of 27 modifieds tried to earn a spot in the 50 lap feature paying $2,500 to win.

The top eight qualifiers were locked into the field with the final 16 coming from two heat races. Chad Poole, the 2000 winner, was fast qualifier with a 13.72 lap.

Mike Carroll and Shane Shirk led the field to the green to start the 50 lap grind. Carroll beat Shirk into turn one to take the lead. The two-time winner of the event soon proved to have the car to beat, as his Moore Trucking sponsored racer dominated the event. Brad Yelton had a great night, as he was able to close up on Carroll, but was unable to pass. Carroll led all 50 circuits to notch his third Firecracker 50 win. Yelton was second, with Greg Stapleton third, Scott Coe fourth, and Poole fifth.

Sport Stock winner Larry Adams
In Sport Stock action, longtime Shady Bowl regular Larry Adams of East Liberty claimed his first ever feature win. Adams had the crowd in his corner, as the popular driver powered his C&F Fabrication Monte Carlo under flagman Matthew Heitzman's checkered flag. Rex Purtee enjoyed a great run to finish second, with Gregg Jackson, Aaron Pippin, and Richard Roush third thru fifth.

Compact winner Jerry Ellis Jr.
The 20 lap Compact feature saw DeGraff's Jerry Ellis Jr. jump out front at the start. Ellis soon proved his Bowden Motors Honda was the car to beat as he opened up a big lead. Justin Pope turned in a strong effort to catch and pass Ellis, but was unable to mount a serious challenge as Ellis posted the win. Josh Sage was third, with Justin Durflinger fourth and Mark Parker fifth.

This Saturday will be Harley Night at the Races with Harley-Davidson riders admitted at a discount. The Modifieds, Pro 4's, Compacts and Detroit Iron will be in action. Racing will start at 7.
