Noise issues are still a big concern for citizens living around The Warehouse. A citizen living on Plumvalley Street addressed the council about her dismay with the noise.

Bellefontaine City Law Director Howard Traul informed council that he has gathered model ordinances from throughout the state that have been effective in dealing with the same type of noise issue. (Audio interviews included.)

Traul said that he would set up a meeting with the safety committee, the police chief, and the city prosecutor to decide which ordinance to use. Traul plans to present the ordinance to council at the next city council meeting.

Service-Safety Director Jim Holycross said the Columbus Avenue Project is near completion. The framing for the sidewalks is almost finished.

Holycross said the road should be reopened sometime next week.

The Ohio EPA visited the old YMCA and studied the site to see if there was anything dangerous on the property that would be an issue during the removal of the building. It will be a few days before the results are known.

The city plans to have the building down by the end of the year.

Mayor Brannon addressed council about the Logan County Health District levy, which will be on the ballot in November. It is a 10-year, 1 mill replacement levy. If passed, it would cost a property owner of $100,000 around $37 a year.

The county commissioners are waiting to get support from city officials and leaders, along with county and township leaders. The commissioners feel the levy will not pass without their support.

In other council news, a safety ordinance was adopted for the service-safety director to take the necessary action for the hiring of an entry-level firefighter/paramedic.

A finance ordinance was adopted to authorize the service-safety director to enter into contract with the board of commissioners of Logan County and Embarq for a new 911-telephone communication system.

Council meets again on July 22nd at 7:30 p.m.
