Isaiah Snipes (Lewistown) brought home top dollar for his pair of champions at the Jr. Fair Livestock Auction on Friday.
Snipes grabbed both the Grand Champion and the Reserve Champion in the T-Bone Steer category. (Audio interviews and pictures included.) The Grand Champion sold for $3250. The winning bid came from Jim Duff, Mr. Concrete, Ohio Ready Mix, and Ohio Lumber. The Reserve Champion went to National Salt Distributors, Steve Austin's Auto Group, Liberty National Bank, Wendy's, Kroger, and Hollanshead-Kinsey Insurance for $2000.
In the Dairy Steer category, the Reserve Champion outbid the Grand Champion. Caleb Blackwell's (DeGraff) Grand Champion sold for $1050 to Stevenson Construction, while Double "D" Construction paid $1150 for the Reserve Champion from Amber Watkins (DeGraff).
In the Beef Feeder category, Troy Hall (East Liberty) picked up the Grand Champion title, but elected not to sell.
Shawn Hurley (Russells Point) grabbed the Reserve Champion title, which sold to Wal-Mart and Stemble's Quality Meats for $850.
Heather Bleininger Grand Champion
Three buyers got Heather Bleininger's (Bellefontaine) goat - actually, goats, as Heather picked up both the Grand and Reserve Champion awards. Ann Schmidt Chrysler Dodge Jeep paid $950 for the Grand Champion and Backdraft Productions along with Jackson Farms (In memory of John Jackson) picked up the Reserve Champion for $850. Listen to Bleininger talk about selling her award-winning goats.
Five buyers put up $1000 for Meghan Wackerman's (Zanesfield) Grand Champion Dairy Feeder. The buyers consisted of Erwin Insurance Agency, Citizen's Federal, Mary Rutan Hospital, Belletech, and Steve Austin's.
Jessica Yoder (Bellefontaine) had the Dairy Beef Feeder Reserve Champion, which went to Backdraft Productions for $650.
The Junior Fair Livestock Auction continues Saturday morning at nine. Hogs will sell first, followed by rabbits, poultry, turkeys, and lambs. Official attendance at the Fair for Friday was 4979.
