The Logan County Children's Services Board held its monthly meeting last week.

Director John Holtkamp was proud to report that the agency became fully accredited in June.

They are the 21st public children's services board in Ohio to receive accreditation.

Other good news included the final report of the Child Protection Oversight Evaluation (CPOE). The agency had only 6 Quality Improvement Plans required, compared to the typically 25-35 for a county our size.

Holtkamp also reported on Family and Children First Council receiving funds from ADAMHS Board to pay into shared funding agreements for children in Foster Care.

This will reduce funds for Foster Care approximately $10,000 to $15,000.

In adoption funding, the agency reported having $235,000 for 2009.

Anticipated long terms costs are approximately $80,000 annually, which will bring in an additional $200,000 in state and federal dollars.

During the Month of June, the following services were rendered:

Investigations and assessments were conducted involving 137 children.

In-Home services were provided to 75 children.

Out-of-Home services were provided to 12 children.

The Neighborhood Outreach Centers served 148 children.

The Western Neighborgood Outreach Center has been selected as the summer food program site providing free lunches to kids through the summer months.

216 children received free lunches in June.

Western held its monthly dinner with parents and a total of 25 kids and 7 parents attended.

Heidi Reser with ESC presented the LURES Program to 19 children helping them to resist child predators.

The Chippewa Neighborgood Outreach Center is preparing for the big Golf Cart Rally and Parade on Saturday, July 19th.

It will be an afternoon of games and prizes.

The Chippewa Back to School Picnic is scheduled for August 9th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

This event will also include games, prizes, and school supplies.

The next regular meeting of the board will be Wednesday, August 6th at 5:00 p.m.
