oshp_cruiser.jpgQuick action by a trooper from the Marysville Post of the State Highway Patrol saved a local girl's life earlier this week.

Trooper Timothy Ehrenborg was eastbound on Route 33 in western Union County late Monday night when he saw a motorist in front of him pull onto the berm and start flashing their headlights.

Mr. and Mrs. Rickie Thomas of rural East Liberty exited the vehicle with their sick daughter, who needed immediate medical attention.

20-month-old Laykin Thomas was limp, unresponsive, struggling for breath, and turning blue.

Ehrenborg performed CPR and moments later Laykin began breathing.

An Allen Township Squad transported her to Union County Memorial Hospital in Marysville.

Hospital officials say that Laykin suffered a cerebral induced seizure and pneumonia.

She was admitted overnight and then sent home Tuesday morning.

A nurse said that Ehrenborg likely saved the girl's life.

Lieutenant Rick Zwayer submitted a letter to the State Highway Patrol Headquarters that recommended that Ehrenborg be considered for a Certificate of Recognition.
