Skelly, Kauffman help Powerbuilt advance at State Tourney PDF Print E-mail

baseballs.jpgAfter dropping their opening game in the Lou Brunswick Acme State Tournament, Bellefontaine Powerbuilt stayed alive by defeating Vandalia 7-3 Sunday afternoon in Coldwater.

Junior Josh Kauffman fired a complete game three-hitter to earn the win. He struck out four.

Adam Skelly delivered a grand slam in the second inning, which gave Bellefontaine an early 4-0 lead.

Austen Pulfer had an RBI single and Kauffman drove in two runs.

Powerbuilt, 30-6, will take on Lima Bath Tuesday night at six o'clock. 

On Saturday, Powerbuilt fell 7-4 against Perrysburg.

Bellefontaine led 2-1 after five innings, but Perrysburg scored six runs in the sixth inning.

Perrysburg only had one hit during the rally, but took advantage of four Powerbuilt errors.

Zach Mosbarger suffered the loss in relief.

The double-elimination tournament runs through Saturday at Coldwater Veterans Field.
